After spending countless hours on the IRS Offer in Compromise - There form is telling me I can afford to pay them $1000.00 a month. Well the form is full of sh!! So now what do I do? I'm thinking now that I should try for the installment agreement. Any Ideas.???? The problem that I notice with the ofc is you have to have receipts for everything....I'm sorry I don't have receipts for a tank of gas that i bought last month with cash, and I'm sorry that I happened to make more money in the last 3 months than I will make in the next 3 months. This just stinks :(

We did an installment plan with the IRS where we paid $50 a month to start and then we finally did a $40 per payday out of my husband's check, which was $100 a month, except on those months that there were 3 paydays. It is worth a shot at calling them and talking to them and see what they let you do. Good luck!

I find it very hard to believe that the men in black would be easy to work with. But hey I'm willing to give it a shot. I'll let everyone know how it goes. I wonder if they are there on Sundays.

Actually, the IRS was required to under-go a complete 'people friendly' overhaul. They no longer can intimidate or make crazy demands. Ask Willy Nelson. He owed millions, yet was able to set up a reasonable payment plan. The IRS would rather get small amounts over a period of time, rather than someone being jailed and not being able to pay at all.
