I check my credit report every month and last month there was no mention of a collection now this month my report says I have an account in collections with Palisades bought from AT&T Wireless which I have never used my wife and I both use Sprint plus my report says that this accounts origin is March of 2005. We have used Sprint since September of 2002. What do I need to do about this, my credit score has dropped over 100 points because of this!

I would dispute the debt. You can find info on these boards on how to do that. The credit reporting agency will have to verify the item, and if it's found to not be yours, remove it.

You can also contact AT&T and see if you can get some info from them. It's possible someone opened an account in your name fraudulantly, or it could just be a mistake.

There are number of topics on this issue. It looks like there is some connection between AT&T and Palisades collections. AT&T makes disputed bills and Palisades purchases those accounts. Then they start calling the consumers and use collection tactics for recovering money.

You need to dispute the bill with AT&T and most likely they will never respond you back. Did Palisades send you any bill for an early termination fee of $175 plus some other stuff? I say this because this is their usual stuff.

I heard that AT&T I famous for slamming long distance customers. Speak with an attorney and get them removed from your credit file. It????????s hurting your scores for no legit reasons.

Never be afraid of any collection agency. They have a habit of trying to make you feel so 'unique', like you are the only one they are having trouble with. LOL Just make them aware of your consumer rights and insist them to follow the laws. You always have the rights to file a class action lawsuit on anyone who is tarnishing your credit fraudulently.

I also checked my credit report and I'm glad I did because I got $85 collections form cavalry Portfolio svc and it dropped my score 100 pts. It also say AT&T original company.
This is outrageous I never received notification and I have no idea what this is for!
I sent a letter to all three agencies asking them to delete this from my file because of lack of verification.
I also sent a letter to the credit agency and asked for proof documents bills and asked them also to remove this or I would take legal action.
