Hi: I am helping somenone who does not speak English and she received a letter from this agency claiming a debt she emphatically tells me she does not have, I helped her by requestong from them, as they instruct, the original debt, etc. We have not received an answer-- I called and was told they answered the letter but we have not received it; the conversation I had with one of their officials ended in him ginving me yet another phone number-- but no answers EVER! I have left messages, etc but still get nothing. i just found this forum and intend on writing to them again using the suggested format-- yet I would like to know if there is anything else i can do-- report them or something aout this issue

Is your friend having Asset Acceptance reported in her credit copy? AA must have an authorized purpose before hitting her file. Write the debt verification letter to send you exact information before attempting further collections. If they have hit her credit file and are unable to verify the item, force them to remove the item from the credit report or you will be pursuing legal actions on charges of reporting incorrect negative information.
