I am newly separated from my husband. In our short lived year together he charged up tens of thousands of dollars on my credit cards(all of which are in my name for he had terrible credit). There is no possible way for me to live and make monthly payments on these. Can I not get the creditors to get him to pay for them? As of now I have not been late on any payments but if this doesn't get resolved I will be forced to quit making payments and ruin my credit. I desperately need advice!

No, In this state you have to be sepatated for a year before you can file for a divorce. He is a verry moody person. One day he says he'll pay for them and the next day he'll change his mind. Its very trying waiting around to see of he will or won't pay for them. I would like to get this resolved before our year is up. I know I'm the fool...but I don't feel as if they are my burden as I didn't charge them up.

I few weeks ago I looked into debt consolidation and was contacted by USA Debt. After researching for an hour on them I knew exactly what to ask them when they called. I didn't like what they were offering so I didn't commit. I do need to consolidate...and I want to be proactive in this instead of just letting everything go. At the same time, is he not legally responsible for these as well? even if his name was not on the accounts? (note: he is not very responsible...which is one of many reasons why we are seperated)
