Loads of debt for years, should I consolidate?

So I used to have pretty good credit and a pretty good job. It all went to hell in 2000, when I got a blood clot stuck in my left main and had to have open-heart surgery for the low low cost of only $63,000. No insurance, etc, so I just didn't pay. Being young and dumb, I knew my credit was shot so I let all my cards and what not go as well. After the hospital wrote off the surgery, I only had about 15,000 left in debt from the doctors and follow up visits and stuff. I have been in collections with bill collectors calling for the past few years.
A few years later, Dad gets sick and goes to a nursing home. In order for him to get admitted, you have to sign a paper that says you will be responsible for all charges should anything happen. Sure enough, even though the state pays all the money he can't, they cut his retirement sometime while he was there and I got stuck with a bill after he died in February for 5800.00. They sued me, and got the judgment. That was two months ago, still haven't started paying yet. Also, last year I got unemployment after getting fired from a sales job at a major furniture sales company, and after about 4 months of receiving benefits, the state tells me that said company claims I quit, even though I didn't, and all the payments were in error and I owe the state 2500.00. So I'm in this bind, lawsuit for 5800, owe the state 2500, and about 11000 in really old medical bills. I just did my free credit report for the year, and lots of the old debt is starting to go away as it does after a few years. However, I am sure I am going to have to pay the lawsuit and state. So my question is, does the debt consolidation places incorporate debt like that? State owed stuff and lawsuits? Will they help me if I only have a couple months left before some of the debt goes away, as in advice? I am looking to get everything down to one low payment, even though I only work part time right now and make like 9 bucks an hour. (I'm looking for work) Thanks for the help.

Did you sign up for the free debt counseling when you first regi
Did you sign up for the free debt counseling when you first registered on the site? If not, you should. If it were me, I probably would consider taking out a consolidation loan to pay everything off. Goodluck!
