I have been reading your board and have a few thoughts.

1. I have seen several times your moderators advise people to not pay bills or go after the collector. Why do you think not paying a debt helps someone fix bad credit and why do you think sending a c-d letter helps when all that is going to do is force the creditor to sue or resell the paper.

2. Why do you not advise of the legal consequences of non payment. I am not talking crazy threats but legit consequences like wage garnishments, tax withholding, bad credit, judgements and liens. If the debtor is a property owner and does not pay a bill they can face a high intrest lien on there property that has to be satisfied at the time of sale or refiance why put somebody in that position over a credit card they may be able to settle out or save on.

3. Why do you attempt to creat and atmosphere or victimization to justify ways not to pay bills why no give solid advise that can help people get out of debt instead of making the situation worse?

Well I guess I am going to rock every bodys boat here. If someone obtains a payday loan over the internet in the state of WV. I would say dont pay the debt. If these scumbags are going to lend in a state where it is ILLEGAL and they know it dont pay them a dime. 99.9 percent of people who take these loans are not aware of their state laws do the payday companies disclose this? I think not.Maybe its time they get what is coming to them. KYSIDE38

Steelers maybe a few but I am going to get slammed here for my MORALS. Payday companies dont have Morals. They dont care if you have food or a house. When you are begging for help to pay the debt they treat you like a criminal and thats what they are in this state they arecriminals KYSIDE38

I don't know. I have no problem with seeing the PDL companies, especially the internet ones get what's coming to them and I do want to be there when it happens, but call me crazy, if you borrowed something and took the money, I still feel you need to pay it back. At least the principal, what you actually took, and certainly not at 400 percent interest...

Kyside, I have a moral obligation to provide for my family, not to be taken by illegal payday companies. We all have different sets of values and morals that we live by, and I certainatley would not tell anybody what their moral obligations are. But I would say that you shouldn't let your family go without a roof over their head or food on the table.

Thats exactly right Steelers. Debtcruncher was right. Your NEEDS have to come first. I can say from a legal point of view on payday companies you will be told here not to pay. This state does not want them and sooner or later they are going to get the drift to stop lending here. Their butts are not welcome. Thats the Law here. ILLEGAL. Kyside38

I hear what you guys are saying and definately want to see these companies kicked back to the curb, especially ALL of the offshore ones, but remember, we approached them, not the other way around. Do they deserve everything that's coming down the pike, you betcha, and like I said again, I just want to be around to see it--but the upshot is, if the money was put in my account, then I have to at least pay it back--not at outrageous interest levels either. Do we deserve to be treated like criminals and threatened with arrest? Absolutely not--but I approached them, not the other way around!

Ks, I agree. I overpaid all of mine by thousands of dollars that I will never see. I do believe however thats how its going to have to work. If they dont get paid then they will learn not to loan where they shouldnt have in the first place.

I have to agree that taking care of your family should come first. I wished I lived in a state where payday loans were illegal. I guess I am just jaded at this point when it comes down to illegal lending. I was told by the DIF here that if they are not licensed here then the loan is null and void. In my case, I paid them thousands of dollars on loans that were for a few hundred. I won't stop until they are banned in my state as well.
