I got a phone call today at work from a law office regarding an outstanding PDL from cash net usa. Stating that they are going to call my references and have them pay them and I cpold be facing criminal charges of theft. Is this true. Does anyone know if cashnet usa is licenced. What do I do??

If you can give us a few bits of information, we can offer you some advice.

-What state are you in?
-How much was your loan, and how much have you paid so far?
-Is this an internet loan or storefront?

They cannot arrest you for defaulting on a payday loan. However, if the lender is operating legally in your state, it is possible they may try to take you to court and obtain a judgement against you, which could lead to garnishment of your wages.

Let us know the information listed above, and we can help you out a little more.

Cashnetusa is licensed. I find it hard to believe that they would resort to illegal tactics like that because it doesn't sound like something they would do. Also, correct me if I am wrong but I thought they are also one of those pdls that do their own collections as well. I have an outstanding loan out with them that I defaulted in February, and have just started to make a payment to them, and they've never pulled this one on me. If it is a law office, I would send a debt validation letter to them, and if they can prove it is your debt, I would make arrangements that YOU can afford, not on their terms. You will not be facing criminal charges for this either.

There are number of topics on this pdl company. Few here were able to make the loan company work on their terms. Go through these links below.

What state are you in? Check the company whether they are listed with the dept of financial institutions in your state.

They are not allowed to make threats while collecting on the debt. You must report them to your state attorney general if they don't practice fair collections. The AG will investigate with them and get the status of your account. How much have you paid so far? Have you checked for the legal charges in your state?
