If you can give us a few bits of information, we can offer you some advice.
-What state are you in?
-How much was your loan, and how much have you paid so far?
-Is this an internet loan or storefront?
They cannot arrest you for defaulting on a payday loan. However, if the lender is operating legally in your state, it is possible they may try to take you to court and obtain a judgement against you, which could lead to garnishment of your wages.
Let us know the information listed above, and we can help you out a little more.

Cashnetusa is licensed. I find it hard to believe that they would resort to illegal tactics like that because it doesn't sound like something they would do. Also, correct me if I am wrong but I thought they are also one of those pdls that do their own collections as well. I have an outstanding loan out with them that I defaulted in February, and have just started to make a payment to them, and they've never pulled this one on me. If it is a law office, I would send a debt validation letter to them, and if they can prove it is your debt, I would make arrangements that YOU can afford, not on their terms. You will not be facing criminal charges for this either.

They are not allowed to make threats while collecting on the debt. You must report them to your state attorney general if they don't practice fair collections. The AG will investigate with them and get the status of your account. How much have you paid so far? Have you checked for the legal charges in your state?

This does not sound like CashnetUSA. I think this guy is just trying to steal your money. Send him a certified letter requiring him to validate this debt and prove he actually owns it. You can't be charged with a crime but he can. Report him as atated above in the other posts.

Actually, Cashnetusa just pulled the same crap on me. They called my sister and told her the same freaking thing!

Don't let them scare you. Give a call to the attorney general's office and get the status of your file. I am sure CashnetUSA has not given a call to the AG. Explain your situation and get them investigated. You should be aware of your legal rights while dealing with these sharks.

Actually this "law office" is the one committing fraud. I would 1) record any future conversations (if legal in your state, 2) sue them for any violations of the fdcpa (in the recording, or make careful notes), 3) file a complaint with the "attorney's" state bar association.
