Wow, tell her if you live a block away from the police station that it'll be a short trip for the cops to pick you up and book you, lol...See what she says about that one!

Or better yet, ask her if she would like for you to just go to the police station and turn yourself in?

Don't forget to send the DV letter to their mailing address. You need to cover yourself legally and they must give you the details of the debt before doing further collections. Make them aware of the FDCPA laws. They don't seem to know much about it.

The fdcpa isn't a real high priority with alot of the collection companies out there, it seems...

I would actually recommend recording those phone calls, then after you have one or two on tape, the next time they call, play it back for the lady....so she can hear the evidence that will land her back side in a lawsuit. highly illegal to make such threats....

I would file a complaint to the FL AG. Because united processing is also united pay services and they have a so called office in Jcksonville FL. And good luck in getting their addy, They wouldn't give it to me. So after tons of calls from them and even some very early in the morning I told them to send something to me and that I know they broke the law alot of times they would not be getting ANY money from me. They also called my employer about 10 times a day until my employer threatened them right back. So good luck with these guys, they are just as bad as Bass.

You should see Cajuns post on Bass & Ass. and contact the reporter and let him know what happened to you with united processing. I told David about them when I contacted him about my experience with Bass. He was very happy to hear about another wonderful CA scum located in his town.

Just a note on recording phone calls - be sure it is legal to do so in your state prior to doing that.

I was just going to say that! Keep all of your correspondence documented with them. Also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and Federal Trade Commission. You can do both of these online.

This is why the collectors hate sites like this, because people get to know their rights and will not be harassed or intimidated by them anymore.

That's true. We do not have to put up with bogus threats or intimidation--but we still need to work together to get our debts paid. If a collector is professional and works with me, I will work to get my obligation taken care of.
