I need to call and see who will work with me and I need to work out something with my current checking account. I just made payments yesterday so I have two weeks to work something. I need the bulk of my next check to pay living expenses so I was thinking I should close my account. If I start calling the PDLs
will they try and ACH right away? How can I protect myself from having my references contacted? I don't want to close my checking if I can guarantee they won't wipe me out next payday but I need advice.

You've definately paid off several of these loans--and did I read your post correctly and did it say you've paid $7000 for a $300 loan????? Do not pay them one more cent!!!!! If closing your account wouldn't work for you at this time, I would try and put ACH blocks on them for these creditors. Definately let your bank know what's going on and if you have signed voluntary wage garnishments on any of these loans, revoke them immediately. This is a piece of paper that would allow the PDL to garnish your check without a court judgement should you default.

These are all internet loans I have been entrapped in for years (paid off and reissued) Moneyline is right -They will be my first call. Did I read that you had to have signed a voluntary garnishment paper in person? Over the years I may not have all my documents but I don't think I ever did this.

Like kscornell said, you need to revoke the voluntary wage assignments, they will attempt this, give a copy to your payroll department also. And unfortunately you may have to close and open a new account. These companies will attempt to debit your account and will also do it under other names they go by. You should defintaely file complaints with your attorney general's office right away. OMG, I can't believe a $300 loan cost you $7,0000. That is really awful.

MPEREZ - Also see this thread

http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/new-york/pdls-help.html

Where there is more advice regarding your situation . . . . It can get kinda confusing to have several threads going about the same thing . . . . What does everyone think about picking one of them and just posting everything to that one thread? I think there are 3 or 4 of this same question floating around . . . . I want to make sure MPEREZ is able to get all the advice possible, and not miss something important because it was posted somewhere else . . .

After talking with MPEREZ, since there are multiple threads with the same story going on, so that an important reply doesn't get missed or overlooked, I would ask that from this point on everyone direct their replies to this thread:

http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/new-york/pdls-help.html

That way there aren't 3 threads going on with the same post.

Thanks!
