Hi jon_ness105,
Welcome to the forums and thanks for sharing your experience. As you said a child is a big responsibility, you will have to plan very seriously for it, I advice
- A proper budgeting.
- Reducing all possible expenses.
- Getting a better job or get a second job for few months.
I believe with a proper planning things can be molded to a better shape.

jon_ness,
truly understand the responsibility both financially and emotionally that come with having children. I myself have three kids and it has been a struggle. Which is why my credit has gone up and down over the past couple of years. I am now starting to get back on track. I do have a good job, but I also have lived a lavish lifestyle. I have changed it a bit. But I was one of those parents that bought everything name brand. I just recently started shopping in different types of stores other than the mall for bargains!! It does take a lot of discipline to work with a budget and resist temptation. Over time though it does pay off.

It seems like there is a lot of woman in the forum who got in ridiculous debt after their husbands left them. That just baffles me. Maybe there should be a forum topic that is "Divorced woman in debt support". I can't believe how many stories I have read that deal with that. Good Luck!
