It's about my experience with AIP . . . . They were very easy to work with once you get the right person on the phone.

Hi goudah, yes, I actually found your thread and read it last night when I was looking up this company in the forum. I'm not looking for a pif in this case though, since I've already paid them back in full several months ago. BUT I am wondering if they will be so cooperative if I ask for money back. I paid a total of $556 on a $200 loan.

AIP has done a refund in the past. Read this post below
I got a refund from AIP. I took out a $200 loan with a $89 fee and paid over $450 in fees to them. Since payday loans are illegal in Georgia, I asked for a refund of all of the fees that I paid over the principal of the loan. They sent me a refun for $250. They also closed my account as paid in full.
Give your best! I hope you also get your money back from the pdl shark.

Well, it is good to know that someone did get a refund from them. I just feel nervous about calling to ask for a refund, though, especially at work. I did send them a fax. I searched the forum pages and all I could find was their physical address and phone number, still no email. :(

Well, it is easy to make the assumption that WWC and AIP are affiliated---those crooks have similar operations! They both are based out of the UK, but they have offices in DE, and they have the same darn expensive refinance fees...$89 for a $200 loan.
AIP
joshua, AIP does NOT have an email address. They have a physical address of American International Processing, LLC 2207 Concord Pike #419 Wilmington, DE 19803. Telephone: 800-274-4159 Fax: 800-441-6383 They d/b/a Cash Relief Limited. I got a refund from them. They never responded to any of my correspondence even though I sent a letter and fax almost every single day. One day, my bank account had a credit on it from them. What?? I just took it and ran! Then a couple days later, I got a response from the BBB from AIP. The letter AIP sent to BBB was that they had refunded me, the account was not closed, and is marked paid in full. AIP never contacted me at all. I think the BBB scared the crap out of them!!! You are in the same situation as I was. It was a verbal agreement. No signed documents. If you haven't already filed with the BBB and AG and IC3, do it NOW. Even though it's been a while, you still overpaid and they owe you a refund. Honestly, me personally, I wouldn't try to contact AIP again, as they do NOT respond. File with the BBB. They got results. And I wasn't even "in the loop"!!And they refunded every penny over the amount of the loan. They did not charge any fees or anything. Every dollar over the loan amount was refunded. So do it! File with the BBB and everyone else. I was astounded. I think you will be, too. Since they so easily refunded me, without even contacting me, I think you'll get your refund. The BBB came through on this one for me! GO GET THEM JOSHUA!

Cannr, that is great...you are the third person on this forum that got a refund from this place! I am worried though because if they try to send a refund to my old bank account, it will be returned since I closed it...they what? I'd had to think I wouldn't see that money again, just because my account was closed. :( I am filing with the BBB and the FTC right now!
joshua
joshua, I do believe that once the BBB gets a response from AIP, you'll get your refund. If they try to pull the "credit the bank account and then respond to the BBB" game, as they did with me, then the BBB would respond to you that AIP attempted to refund you via ACH credit to your account; however, the ACH credit was returned. You can then respond that your account is CLOSED and they can send you a check. Or they can Money Gram it or Western Union it. Hell, the pdl's all want US to Money Gram or Western Union them! They can Money Gram and Western Union US! I really feel as though you can get a refund; however, I understand your concern about the account being closed. Luckily, mine was closed yet. But you get to respond to the BBB. So in your response, tell them you want your refund via check mailed to you. Don't give them any other bank account information (I'm sure you wouldn't anyway). I have a good feeling about it for you. They have been refunding people because they know they're wrong. You have every right to ask for your refund via check mailed. You can even include that in your BBB complaint. That you want a refund by check mailed to your address.

Well, I filed my complaints with the BBB and FTC online last night. I will update you guys if I hear anything back...hopefully soon!
joshua
joshua, that's the best part of what happened to me. I got the friggin refund BEFORE I got a response from the BBB! AIP must have freaked when contacted by the BBB and just refunded the money. Then they responded to the BBB telling them that they refunded me! It's actually quite funny! So the BBB contacted me and that's when I saw the letter they sent the BBB in response. That's the first I ever saw or heard anything from AIP! So once the BBB gets your complaint, they'll contact AIP. AIP will probably act upon the complaint before responding to the BBB. So it won't take long.

One more question for you, cannr...Well, I know you mentioned that AIP doesn't respond to faxes. Would it be just a waste of my time though, if I faxed them my refund request asking them to send the check to my home address rather than ACH. I'm wondering because I know if they send it ACH it's going to come back returned from my closed bank account. I did put that request on my BBB complaint.
refund
It certainly wouldn't hurt. And more documentation for you! Can you tell I'm big on documentation? LOL! But fax it and also mail it. That way you're covered. You already stated it in your complaint to the BBB. Then you'll also have your faxed letter telling AIP and your mailed letter telling AIP. They can't play stupid then! I faxed and mailed every other day to these people. Go for it! Like I said, all the more documentation for you.

Does anyone have the web address for AIP PDL? I can not remember where I applied for this loan and I keep getting a debit from them.

Well, World Wide Cash received the new complaint I filed with the BBB on Friday, the same time I filed a complaint against AIP, so maybe they are just getting theirs now too and will take a little longer than I expected.
joshua
joshua,
It took AIP a bit to respond to the BBB. But they had also went ahead and "took care of the situation" by marking my account PIF and issuing me a credit - THEN they contacted the BBB. So give them a little bit. They're scurrying around now trying to make themselves look all "innocent" before responding to the BBB. LOL!

Ok, I also filed my complaint against AIP with the DFI here a couple of days ago, and just got back a response that they needed more information to proceed.
The DFI wanted to know:
Did you apply for a loan on their website?
Did they send you an e-mail solicitation or call you soliciting a loan?
How were you provided a copy of the loan agreement?
How did you sign the loan agreement?
I responded:
Boy, they are going to have a hard time with this one. :(
joshua
joshua, no they're not. These pdl's that do "verbal agreements" are the ones the agencies are looking into. You did good. Look at it this way, you are obviously not the only one who has filed a complaint against them. They obviously have quite a few to draw themselves and start an investigation. You're helping them out. I know you couldn't give them a whole lot of information, but you gave them what you could. Now they can do they're job & crack down on these guys.
Yeah, I hope the DFI can help me get some money back! At least
Yeah, I hope the DFI can help me get some money back! At least AIP can't get any more money for me since I paid them off though! I just hope they are able to crack down on these guys really soon!

Yeah, I ended up paying $556 when it was all said and done for a $200 loan.
joshua
Whew! You should be getting a refund! I forgot how much I was refunded. Maybe around $200. And that's because, like I said, they refunded every penny over the principle amount. They did not hold out any "fees" or anything of that nature. They just kept their $200 and refunded me the rest. I sure hope they do that for you, too. I'm thinking they will since the DFI is on it. If you'll recall, I actually got results through the BBB. So if the BBB can get results, sure enough the DFI can!

Well, I filed with the BBB, DFI, AND the FTC...so I'm thinking with all three on their case, something's gotta happen! I just hope I get a nice birthday surprise at least (mine's in early August!).

Joshua - Did you try calling them and speaking with the controller? That worked for me.
Funny thing, one of the first times I'd called them, I was told by a customer service rep to check out the BBB, that they have a great report. So i did, and they obviously don't have a "great" report. Funny . . . . But I filed a complaint with the BBB too, and they were quick to correct their mistake. I don't know if the lady that i talked to back then still works there, but if you want the name and number let me know and I can dig it up.

I may need that number, but I want to see if they respond to the other agencies first.
Here is the latest response from the DFI now:

confused
So what does this mean? I'm sooo confused. Is he saying that he can't really even tell if this was an over the telephone verbal contract or a web initiated contract? What? I'm really confused by his response. Like I always say, I have to have it in PLAIN ENGLISH! Please tell me what this man is saying!

LOL Well, in Wisconsin they have a condition that states if you go and look for a loan yourself, then it is not required for the lender to be licensed. Whereas if the lender solicits you directly, then they have to be licensed since they are asking you for their business. So the DFI examiner is trying to figure out whether one the internet sites was directly affiliated with AIP because if it were, then they really can't help out...but if my info was passed on as a lead and they decided to contact me, then they have a more concrete case.
joshua
Oh my Lord. Well, in this case, they did solicite you, correct? This was a verbal agreement over the telephone, correct? If so - then it was obviously a solicited call to you. So what's his issue? See why I'm confused? If they called you on the telephone and offered you a loan - verbal only - then what's the confusion? Oh, please help me understand!

Well, they called me...but I have no idea, and neither does the case examiner, if they called because I had applied through one of their so-called franchises websites or not. I have no idea which website was linked to AIP, and it's really difficult to pin down because these crooks have NO OFFICIAL WEBSITE. *sigh*
Ok, so it's been a couple of weeks and no word from the BBB yet.
Ok, so it's been a couple of weeks and no word from the BBB yet. I don't know if I should call AIP or wait...maybe the check's in the mail, I have no idea. I'm just getting frustrated because I have no idea if they are going to issue a refund or not.
joshua
joshua - go back to your BBB complaint and check the status of it. You should be able to pull it up and check the status. Depending on what state you're in, the BBB gives the company a certain time period to respond. Sometimes it's two weeks, sometimes it's longer. So they might just be putting the BBB off until the very last minute. It should tell you a date that the company has to respond by. Don't get discouraged. Like I previously stated, they "fixed" the problem and THEN contacted the BBB to look like they were little angels. Do not get discouraged. Check the status on your BBB complaint just to see if there's a "respond by" date or if there is a "status update".

The BBB never gave me a complaint number to check...this is the problem. When I submitted my form online, I received email verification that they received it, but nothing after that. How do I check now??
BBB
On your email from the BBB, it should maybe have a site you can go to (they just type it on the email). I copy and paste it and it goes directly to my complaint. If they didn't include this in their email, call that BBB and ask them how you can check the status of your complaint. They may have some funky way of checking it. All the BBB's are different. Sometimes you have to be some kind of "master mind reader" to figure them all out. But, if there is not site typed into that email from them, call the contact number that should be on the email and ask them how to check the status. You should be able to pull it up and have everything right in front of you. I print out every single one of mine.

Ok, I called the BBB of DE, and they said not enough time had passed because it takes about 4-6 weeks to process, and so far about 3 weeks have passed. They said with their particular BBB, they don't assign an online complaint number for me to check it myself.
info
joshua, good information to know. I knew that each state BBB was different regarding how long the company has to respond, how they they look into it, etc. Apparently this particular BBB takes a while! But they've got it. I assume they will contact you once they're contacted (if ever) by the pdl you complained about.

OMG I got my refund from AIP today for $320!!! They paid me back exactly what they should have! I am just so ecstatic and relieved. I want to thank everyone for their support and advice for helping me through this, and giving me encouragement not to give up! This site is a godsend! Wooohoooo!
