I have one more black spot on my credit. The Bank that the account was with has charged it off. The last collection company that had tried to collect it from me, no longer handles the accounts for that Bank. The Bank has since been sold and the new bank does not show ever having a listing for my account number or me. Is there anyone or any agency I can get to track down who owns my outstanding account? I really want to settle it. I want to do the right thing and I am having no luck.

All you can do is wait. I had a similar situation and I never found out who I owed it to and no one has since tried to collect. When banks merge they leave confusing paper trails. Eventually someone may turn up with it. By then the Statute of Limitations may have run out. Have you check you credit report?

The only report listed is from the original Bank showing the charge off. No one else is claiming to have the account.I can not trace it by my credit reports or buy the Bank.
Is there people that track these things down? My credit number is much better than is was but having this show up on the credit report is not good

It's good that no other company is reporting on your file. Maybe, you should call the original bank and ask them for the company that has got your file. If they still have their file in their system, you may pay them directly. But if it????????s sold, you don't have anything else to do, but wait. Your credit scores are low because of the charged off item
