All you can do is wait. I had a similar situation and I never found out who I owed it to and no one has since tried to collect. When banks merge they leave confusing paper trails. Eventually someone may turn up with it. By then the Statute of Limitations may have run out. Have you check you credit report?

The only report listed is from the original Bank showing the cha
The only report listed is from the original Bank showing the charge off. No one else is claiming to have the account.I can not trace it by my credit reports or buy the Bank.
Is there people that track these things down? My credit number is much better than is was but having this show up on the credit report is not good

If they still have their file in their system, you may pay them directly. But if it????????s sold, you don't have anything else to do, but wait. Your credit scores are low because of the charged off item

Thanks for the advice but as I stated the bank has since been sold and split up. They have no record of my account or me in any of their databases. I even tried the one branch that is still just a peoples bank.
