:?: :?:
Yesterday morning I received a message on my cell from allied interstate. Today, I received another, but I have to call their phone number and be placed on hold...I finally hang up.

This is the telephone number that's been calling with a message to call them back:
888 889 3694.

I do NOT HAVE A CLUE :!: as to why I am receiving these calls. So I got on the net to check them out and found this very informative web site.

I have panic disorder and after reading through your post, I am very much concerned and frightened after reading your posts, but am very grateful to found you.

Well, don't panic...easier said than done in these situations, but it's best to keep a clear head. Allied interstate is a collection agency and one of the bottom feeders. Do not promise them anything even verbally with them. You can find out what debt they are trying to collect, but you don't need anything else from them...let them validate the debt for you. Get their address and send them a DV letter. A lot of these places try to make you pay as soon as you get them on the line...been there before! And yes, it's scary and hectic, but fortunately, my fiance has a cooler head and did research and saved money. I dealt with them before, and they ended up selling my account to someone else. I'm in the process of getting everything settled. Another thing to check if you think the debt is yours, is to check if the statute of limitations has expired on your debt.

Hi Jan

Do not worry. It is just another scary and sleazy tactic used by the allied interstate to harass people. Next time they call you up just tell them to ???????put the whole thing in writing??????? and hang up. In my opinion the best way to respond to such calls is to send them a debt validation letter with a cease and desist letter. Remember to send the letters via certified mail with a return receipt requested so that you have the proof of Allied receiving your mail. If they do not respond to the debt validation letter with in 30 days, then they can not take any legal action against you. I will also suggest that you pull out your credit report to see whether the agency has reported any bogus debt or not. You just have to be aware, because these agencies know that most of the consumers are ignorant. So do not let them bully you and DO NOT???????DO NOT Panic.
