I live in in Washington State and I wanted to know if it is possible to open a new bank account after a bankruptcy? If so, which banks would allow it? Any and all help/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Some banks will allow you to open an account after filing bankruptcy. The bank may impose conditions and limits for this bank account. They may limit the amount of money you are allowed to withdraw and state that you need to keep a certain amount in the account to avoid fees. You need to work hard on improving your credit before any company is willing to offer new credit.

I was able to get an account through a Credit Union yesterday. It all worked out.

I was unaware that you could have problems opening a bank account after bankruptcy. Did I not have any problems because I had one and stayed with it through mine?

Credit Unions are good, way better rates... got to watch out for some of their fees though, but that is probably the same for all financial institutions these days.
