PDLs being licensed anywhere?

Let me do some checking around for a bit - In the meantime if anyone else knows if any of these companies are licensed anywhere please let Godzuki know!

According to other posters, MTE is not licensed anywhere either.

Yeah, I would be surprised if any of them have a license . . . . But you never know . . . . I suppose it's possible!

Does this mean I'm pretty much screwed on that one, since they are licensed in NM and TN won't help me enforce my state's lending laws?

I wouldn't say screwed, but it would seem that the company is acting legally . . . . That just means that you will have to make some sort of payment arrangements with them.

I thought that someone said one time that MTE was licensed in Kansas? I will do some checking.

Thta's what I meant by screwed...Goudah. I've already given them more than twice the amount owed by my laws here in TN...but, NM law allows it. Now they have added all this other crap to it as well because of the defaulting. So I am SCREWED!

Here's the real question, though...if I don't pay or refuse their payment arrangements...what can happen? They can't make me come to NM and go to court? They put it on my credit or what?

Technically, they could sue you in your jurisdiction. Then they could get a judgement and garnish your wages . . . . But for such a small amount of money it may not be worth sueing . . . . It all just depends on the company.

Here's the thing, though Goudah...

If they sue me in my Jurisdiction...then, TN has to decide which laws they are going to let govern their residents...which they seem unwilling to do right now.

So that may be a good thing . . . . But odds are they will just bug the hell out of you and threaten you for a while . . . .

It was a $300 loan which was rolled over several times and even had one payment of $50 towards the principle paid on it. Now they say I owe the $510. I refuse to pay that...

I don't give a rip about their threats...they already told me I couldn't call them back or e-mail them anymore becasue I punked out their collections manager.

I got it...thanks, Goudah. Don't worry I'm not going to give up. I'm fighting this to the very end...even if they end up garnishing my wages (with a court order), at least I'll know I am paying something I legally owe that went through due process.

MTE isn't licensed anywhere . . . . They are all through CLK Management out of Kansas, but they also use a tribe in OK as a front so they can claim they are on a reservation and are out of reach of any state AG . . . . Thanks Sass!
