I am told of a place in montgomery, al. That you can pay $250 and get your credit cleared, are you aware of such and is it legitimate offer?

Never, ever pay anyone to "clear your credit" for you. Most of those offers are scams, and all that gets "cleared" is your wallet.

You can clean up your own credit. Go to annualcreditreport.com - it's free, once per year, and you get a report from all three credit bureaus. It's also available anytime you are denied credit. Print out your reports, and go through them, line by line. Go back online to that site and dispute any inaccurate information.

Then, once you know your information is accurate, look at paying off your old debts, as quickly as possible. If you have a $10 co-pay from an old medical bill you've forgotten to pay, then start there, and work your way up. It will take time, and effort on your part, but it's worth it.

Definitly stay away from those credit repair places, They are nothing but scams and they won't do anything that you can't do yourself, except they will gladly take your money. Don't get involved in those things at all. You have some good advice about clearing it up yourself. That is the only way your credit score is going to rise, paying your collections off, paying on time, etc

I have 'disputed' things on my credit ( thast have been there a long time). Some of the 'old accounts' I 've had, I got removed..ON MY OWN!! When u get your credit report, you will see when bad crdit will 'drop off'..( ie...what year, month, etc.) You can do this on your own. Why pay someone who will do the same things you can do, for free? However...a consolidation comapny will help you pay off things sonner...NOT take it off your credit.

Good advice!! That's true!! I have raised my score, a bit. I DO know there will be a few items that will 'drop off' this year and the beginning of next year. ( Some more advice)....if u know something will 'drop off' soon, don't try to pay it off. Concentrate on other things u have.

These credit repair places claim that they have suitable packages for bad credit people. They will charge some fees for their services. You can do the same things by your self also. They will just offer you guidance, nothing else. You only have to make the payments towards your debts, and if there is any disputed item on your file, they will just help you to figure it out. You can do the same thing on your own, without paying a fee.
