This is Barney - a Boxer-Shepherd mix my daughter got at a local shelter. He was such a CUTE puppy! When she moved out last summer, I made her leave him behind, because I knew she wouldn't have time to take care of him. She really only liked him as a puppy, then he grew up (as they do) and she was just annoyed with him. So I figured it was best that he stay with us. She later "gave" him to my older son, so he's ours permanently.

This is the one that ate the pork steaks and my sandwich all in one night...

OMG Sue he is sooo cute. I love his big ears lol. I also got a collie/shepard mix from our shelter as a puppy. He was the best dog. But when he was 8 years old we had to put him down due to a spinal cord problem. But when I do get another dog it WILL be from a shelter again. Hubby won't let me go in one right now because he knows I would come home with a car full of animals :D

Shelters are your best source for pets, or rescues...never ever buy from a breeder or pet store. (Except when it comes to fish or small rodents/snakes...where you don't have much choice.) If you can rescue even one dog or cat from being put down due to shelter overcrowding, it's one that will be forever grateful to you. All of my animals I've ever had have always come from shelters or were give-aways that would have ended up in a shelter.
