How long do they have to update their records to the date they signed my return receipt? They signed for it on the 20th and I'm still receiving computer generated calls.

Its an utter violation of fdcpa. Once the collection agencies receive your Cease and desist letter , they can only contact you once to notify you about their plans - whether they will take a legal action against you or stop all the collection activities. Thats it. They can not keep calling you and harassing you. Law Student is right. Keep a record of all the calls. It will help you, if you are planning to sue them.

If you have more than one account with them then you will need to send a letter for each account.

Depending on how old the debt is collection agencies are fairly quick to either send the debt back to the creditor or sell it to another agency when they get those letters. Make sure to keep copies of your C&D handy.

How long is a VOD letter good for? I sent one to a company April 2006, no reply and just recently they started to call me. I can not send another letter because the are not giving me their address.
