Cut the stress down a notch...in addition to validation, demand that all communication come through the mail only.

How much and what kind of debt is this? Morningstar is right. Send a partial cease and desist letter stating that you'll only communicate in writing (send registered return reciept). Also research your state law. I doubt if hounding the mentally ill for debts is legal in any state. Indeed, if she was mentally ill at the time of signing any credit agreements, they might be held invalid.
