my daughter, who is mentally ill, now has collectors calling every day. Is it too late to try and consolidate? Is Bankrutpcy the only answer?

Welcome to the Community :D Is your daughter on disability? What type of debt does she have?

Here is a link that explains 12 Ways to Solve your debt problems at http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/debt-solution.html you can look over these and see if any of them may suit your needs.

You also nned to make sure these are her debts, and that these companies have a legal right to collect them, some companies claim they have a right to collect a debt, and don't.

Feel free to ask questions, we are here to help and guide you..Karenn

How much and what kind of debt is this? Morningstar is right. Send a partial cease and desist letter stating that you'll only communicate in writing (send registered return reciept). Also research your state law. I doubt if hounding the mentally ill for debts is legal in any state. Indeed, if she was mentally ill at the time of signing any credit agreements, they might be held invalid.
