Is there any legal precedent that allows, or disallows a collection agency and a law firm to collect the same debt? I suspect the firm, Brachfeld and Associates, were hired by Alliance One, or it's parent company, LVNV.

Thanks in advance.

Go to this link and you will find them both listed as "agencies to avoid." You must send a cease and desist letter to both of them and a debt validation Letter also. Brachfield is describedas a bottom feeder that collects for other bottom feeders. You can't get any lower. Go here below.

I'm aware of Bud Hibbs and I appreciate the replies. I should have mentioned that Alliance One is the third CA I've dealt with on this debt. I've made a total of 22 payments on this debt among the three CA's. I've sent Alliance One two payments and now Brachfeld is attempting to collect.

I have an attorney working on this but he hasn't been able to locate any legal precedent that would allow for two entities to collect the same debt.

Thanks again.
