kash - Thank you. Now, that's a true friend!
You guys, I did revoke my wage assignment with Cash Transfer Centers. However, this did not prevent them from sending one anyway. In answer to the question as to how long it took? About 4 months. No kidding. I'm sorry for everyone who has had their employer honor this wage assignment. I am hoping mine is taken care of. However, kash, if I need you - please be there for me! We basically told them this is voluntary, that it was already filed as revoked, that it does not have to be honored, and we were refusing it. Oh. We we told them to not contact this company again or legal action would be taken. Praying this will be enough... .
And, thank you guy for your concern. It really, really means a lot to me. You just don't know how much.
If you need a third employer, I am here for you too.

Goudah, for those in the outlawed wage assignment states, should they send a revoking letter anyway?
Because it doesn't seem like they would care if a state didn't allow them. It seems like they'd try anyway because they seem to work since no one really knows they are voluntary and sent from illegal companies.
I would send them anyways . . . . Just to cover all your bases.
I would send them anyways . . . . Just to cover all your bases. BUT - If you are in a state that doesn't allow them, and a pdl tries to put one through, your employer can get into trouble if they allow it. I know in Oregon it's a labor violation to deduct anything from an employee's paycheck without their consent (besides taxes and the like).

Does it get more complicated if you work for the federal government? I've had the state rules trumped before (with health insurance).

Cannr - Glad you got a hold of it before anyone else did! Good luck on all of it. You seemed to be in a good spot until they threw this at you. It does come in waves doesn't it.

Thanks, poko! I thank God I was able to intercept! I feel like a football player with these pdl's! Block the pdl from the boss! LOL! And, like goudah said, even if they are illegal in your state (and I know she's doing more research for you), still send a letter revoking it. I really don't believe the pdl cares if they're legal/illegal. They're lending illegally, so they don't give a giant crap if wage assignment is legal/illegal. Just have documenation to cover your butt. I do know that goudah will probably come back with some information for you. She's the research queen!

Hey Cannr, I am here if you need me. I will tell them what ever I need to tell them to get them away from you
I am glad that you intercepted the fax. where the hell is the letter that they "mailed " to you? I wonder if they did. These IPDLS are so sleazy it makes me sick.
I do pity your poor mailman getting pounced on everyday by you. Whatever it is, we will stand by you , and get you out of this mess. NO ONE will ever take (steal) your mney again

uh oh...I heard from a friend who works in a law office that it can take up to 30 days for them to issue a wage assignment to an employer...after they decide to do so???

First of all, kash, thank you with all my heart. I know you mean what you say and I so appreciate your offer of help! I will scream to you if need be! Thank you!
Second, morningstarr, well, they waited about 4 months before sending a wage assignment to my employer! Guess they feel as though they can do this at any time. We'll be 103 years old and sitting in our rocking chairs and get hit with a wage assignment. LOL! I have to joke about it because it's so disgusting!

Cannr...when you take a breath and have responded to Cash Transfer Centers...I want to let you know that my payroll office dealt with the same thing about 2 years ago. Our corporation treasurer told me at that time that any wage garnishments had to come through our court system before they would honor it. She faxed them back an letter stating that no garnishment would be taken from my check without a court order from an Indiana court. I am sure Kentucky is the same...

laura, it is. They can't "garnish" wages without a court order. This is a wage "assignment" which basically states that you "give permission" to your employer to pay these illegal idiots and then your employer can take the money out of your check to get their funds back. The "assignment" is voluntary on the part of the employer. "Garnishment" is not voluntary. So some employers who are not educated regarding wage "assignment" go ahead and honor it. Sorry, but I'm not even letting it get into anyone's hands! I do know that my employer would never honor such a thing. It's just a damn shame that some employers do and the employee suffers by having the money taken out of their paycheck because their employer paid an ILLEGAL company an ILLEGAL debt.

Yes..I was one of the lucky ones to have a person in payroll that is my friend. However I do work for a school corporation and they are very protective of their employees especially one that has been with them for over 17 years. But things change and I just might get hit with one of those again..and their are new people in the payroll department so I won't bet that these other IPDL's that I haven't heard from might just try that...I'll stay alert!
