UCK! I will never get used to the Yankee way of life up here..The minute it turns 50 in the winter these fools are wearing shorts. I will never get used to this tundra! 10 years here, and I still freeze when it's 65.

Out here in CA, anything below 70 and we freeze! :lol:

Dinner-Italian Cold Cut sandwich and a milkshake. I feel like I just ate a lead weight!!

We went to our local seafood restaraunt and split prime rib and fried shrimp.

Pyb, now that sounds good! Surf n Turf! Love fried shrimp....and prime rib too.

It is a little local place. The atmosphere is great which just adds to the good tasting food.

I love those types of places..good food, no fuss and if its a local place, they care about return business.

And reasonable prices. We have another restaraunt here that I have not even tried yet. I have been told by several different people it is great for the atmosphere but don't go there if you are hungry because the portions are tiny. My father went there paid $100 for three people and when he got home had to fix another dinner because they were still hungry.

Oh no! Thats not good...there is a place here thats been around forever called the Buggy Whip...old, brick style dining room, red booths, very fancy in its hey-day but let me tell you, the best cuts of meat at reasonable prices and very good table service.

I hate small portions....with a vengance! :evil:

Ever had spanish tapas? Small plates but your order a bunch to share and it creates a meal...those are fun for small portions. But if its a dinner plate, I need a full meal!

No can't say that I ever had those. I remember my first trip to Texas before we moved there for a short period I tried the Flan. That was good.

You know what combos are right. Well last night I had some salsa flavored combos. DELICIOUS

Salsa flavored combos eh? Will have to try those because I do like combos.

Some homemade crispy chicken tacos would be great right now...

Take corn tortilla, place shredded chicken, fold with tongs, fry in HOT oil for 2 mins, drain, open it back up then add cheese, salsa and lettuce.

Volley Are you saying that you actually hold the taco folded and filled in the frying oil with tongs. Or do you drop them in and then fish them out?

Hold it with tongs while frying...only take a minute or so. Trying to seal them with toothpicks will not work...been thre done that. Besides, my mom used tongs and they come out soo good.

Forgive my frognorance, but are the entire edges supposed to remain closed tight so no oil gets inside?

Position the tongs in the middle and it creates kind of a seal around the meat. They wont be in the oil long enough to get greasy as long as its HOT.

Frog just go get the extra long grilling tongs. Maybe that will at least bring it down to 2nd degree burns! LOL

I am going to fry some chicken tonight so I will probably get burned tonight too from those splatters.
Once I strained the pasta water onto my bare foot. Still have the scar two years later. Another favorite is hitting the upper oven rack with my arm. Ouch!

Good Grief frog!! Pasta water on ur foot? YIKES!

I will second the OUCH!! I love fried food but hate cooking it, I always enbd up with at least one burn if not several.

Frog legs are good. No I am not a real frog so don't go there! I won't eat them anymore though because they are becoming threated in the wild. I am a big supporter of wildlife.

I live in the kitchen when I have time! Good advice. Save the wine for dinner! Don't drink and cook! Oops 5 o'clock and time for traffic!

Frog...you'll be fine. The tacos wont splatter as long as you dont have sauce or anything on the chicken in the tacos when you fry them..just cooked chicken ****. And the extra long tongs will work well!!

When I make chicken parm, I start it on the stovetop then goes into the oven in a ovensafe skillet. I used a pot holder to grab the handle and bring it out of the oven....took off the pothilder, then guess what I GRABBED THE HOT HANDLE! AAAGGHH!

Frog, do they still have Fast Eddie's out there in St. Pete? Wow, they had some great seafood, and Frog's legs and alligator on the salad bar.

I tried gator when I was out there over the summer...pretty good.

It is pretty good..More mild than I expected. I even tried gator jerky..It was ok.

Gator has to be cooked correctly though. If not it will be really chewy. I don't burn myself, I end up cutting myself. Earlier this year I sliced my pinkie finger from the tip, through my nail, to the bone on the pampered chef perfect slicer. I was slicing onions...I am not allowed to use it any more. I am also not allowed to use any of his cutlery...I have had way too many cuts on my hands and fingers. My hubby cuts anything that needs to be cut. I leave him a note and when I come home everything is chopped, diced or whatever. Saves lots of money in the long run.

Its gonna be meatloaf and mashed potatoes....need some comfort food. I was going to do homemade macaroni and cheese but didnt have enough cheese on hand and didnt feel like running back out.

Yes, I will admint to be the Tim Taylor of the kitchen....I can not deny it..and if i did my hubby would tell it. :lol: It was grilled salmon with grated citrus seasoning, italian green beans, salad and spaghetti salad.

Ohh!! Sounds good too bad I am allergic to fish.
