I am a foodie...I love talking about food, reading about food, watching it on TV and of course consuming food. About mid-day I start thinking of what I am going to have for dinner.

So tell us, whats for dinner tonight in your home?

Wow..Pan pizza from Pizza Hut..along with cheesesticks..that's in my to 5. I think my absolute favorite is really good BBQ. Not the yankee crap they make up north, but the REAL stuff from back home down south. And then..Chi-chi's fried ice cream. YUM!! Remember that? Other Mexican places try to do it..I've even had it in Mexico! But no one has ever come close to Chi-chi's.

Went to Johnny Carino's last night...ugh!! I had calamari and cedar salmon....the calimari was cooked to high temp too fast and was like eating a rubber band and the salmon was ckked too long and was dry.hubby had chicken parm and he did not like it...which I wondered why he ordered it..he has never had chicken parm he liked other than mine. Anyway..shoulda gone to Wendy's or McD or BK.

Wasn't going to go there. The manager came and asked how the dinner was and when I told him the calamari was frozen and that they cooked it at too high a temp and it was chewy he just looked at me like I was crazy. I should know better than to order things I know how to cook.

Guess u know not to go back there!

The old diners were made in factories and resembled RR dining cars. They were transported to the site very often in one piece. They are classic Art Deco and Art Moderne structures. Some still remain and many have been moved to other states. Rosies Diner from the Bounty commercial was the most famous. It once sat on Rte 46 in Little Ferry NJ and now is in the midwest somewhere. The new ones a big and shiny mega versions of the old ones with huge menus. Everything comes in flash frozen.

Frogman, Im a Jersey girl! And when I used to live there, I loved going to the diners! It was the best place to go anytime of the day/night. The food was great, plus they give you huge portions at cheap prices. Boy do I miss diners! I moved to Ohio earlier this year and cant find a diner NO WHERE!

i have decided after overeating the past months that starting tomorrow i am going on a diet. or better yet, cut down on my eating. since i have been unemployed, all i do is eat, eat, and eat. i discovered that i eat under stress and boredom. so what i am going to do to overcome the boredom, i am going to look for a job everyday. i would go walking, but starting in the morning it is going to turn cold. (good reason)

California burger is a NJ term. I do not know where it came from. Here are some others. Taylor Ham, Regular Coffee, Hard Rolls, and Black and White Soda. Down at the shore a Pizza used to be called a Tomato Pie. There is a place called Vics in Bradley Beach that still has a neon sign that says it. Great pizza by the way!

I am making a BIG pot of stuffed green pepper soup right now. It will go good with the day, very windy and 39 out right now, they are talking snow for this afternoon  I wanted to grill out but it is too windy, I had to go running after the garbage can this morning. So no grill only soup today with some nice warm crusty rolls on the side :)

If you like stuffed green peppers this is kind of like it. I used ground beef, onion, diced tomatoes, green peppers, minute rice, tomato juice and beef broth. I had the soup once and just made it how I thought it should be and the whole family loves it. I don't have it measured out or written down, i'm sorry. But here is the way I make it. I have a huge pot I make it in, so I use a ton of the ingredients  But then I freeze some and the family eats it for a couple of days lol.

Fry up your ground beef with the onion, season to taste, add your diced tomatoes and chopped green peppers, tomato juice and a couple cans of beef broth ( you don't want to add too much tomato juice) then while that is simmering I cook the rice (if you don't it will suck up all your juices) then add the rice and simmer a little longer. You can add more tomato juice and beef broth if it gets too thick for you.

People ask for my receipes, but I can't tell you how much of anything to use!!I too, ccok in a huge pot- I cook for me,hubby, son that is disabled, mom, and now my brother and sis-in-law since she had a stroke-so it takes alot! If I cook beans, I cook about 5 pounds!!..karen

Going back aways, regular coffee is just coffee with milk and sugar. Taylor ham is pork roll made by the Taylor company of Trenton. A black and white soda is chocolate soda with vanilla ice cream and a hard roll is a kaiser roll that is very crisp on the outside and light and airy on the inside. Anyone want a chocolate egg cream?

lol Roxy

I loved the soda fountain, we used to live in Colorado and we would drive up in the mountains to a little mining town called central city and they had the old fashoned soda fountain and my mom used to order the things from when she was younger. They were so yummy. I miss Colorado and playing in the mountains
