Reply letter?

I got a letter back from them yesterday, dated the 21st of Sept. It says that I didn't supply enough information for them to investigate it, that they need a photocopy of my drivers license and a valid phone number. Oh, and at the bottom, it says it's an attempt to collect a debt.
So do I send them a letter back laughing in their face for wanting me to do their job for them?
Actually I'm thinking about saying that all of the info they needed was supplied in the first two letters? And seeing as they don't have enough info in their own system to validate it, that it's an admittance that they in fact cannot validate it and I'll expect them to remove it from my credit report in thirty days?
Also, isn't it a fine-able offence to continue to attempt to collect while it's in dispute? I know there was a court case here in AZ where they fined an agency for having that stamped on their dispute letters.
Any advice would be great! Thanks in advance!

Someone with more knowledge than I will be able to answer your questions in greater detail. I personally wouldn't send them jack squat, but that is only my opinion. I definetly wouldn't send them a copy of my driver's license.

This letter is a border line violation imho. Until they validate
This letter is a border line violation imho. Until they validate they cannot collect and no way would I send them any additional info.
Creddy. I agree that you should not supply any more information.
Creddy. I agree that you should not supply any more information. It DOES sound like they are asking for you to do their job. If they aren't sure that the debt belongs to you then how could they possibly be trying to collect? Good catch. Good luck. :-)

I challenged it though Experian, sent them all the letters, copies of my green cards, and the letter I was sent and they verified it. Is there a way to find out how it was verified?
How can they verify it if they cant validate it to me without the proper information?

I agree with cajun. And don't send them any additional info about youself. You don't have to send them anything, let alone a copy of your drivers license. As far as verifying, those such as Experian are a joke. The simply send a message to the collector, and the respond "yes we have this alleged debt", etc. no proof.
That's what I got when I challenged the LVNV Fundings tradeline
That's what I got when I challenged the LVNV Fundings tradeline on Experian, I got a automated response within the hour stating that it will remain.
