I saw it mentioned in the past that there are a few debt consolidation companies that will work with payday loan companies.

Can I possibly get a name or two of people to speak with?

Also, I am going to be closing my account this week. I have already stopped my direct deposit and I'm in the process of securing a checking and savings account through Golden 1 credit union.

Which letters do I need to send out to my online payday loan companies? Do I do the same with installment loans? What about offline?

Also, is there any way to prevent from my references being called when my accounts with these payday loan places are found in default? I really don't need my Mother being drawn into my problems.

Took care of the notarized letter on lunch and have a wad of cash in my wallet, instead of pending to be taken out of my bank account for once. :)

I'm all set up with Langhorne, spare my first payment. I was instructed to not reply to the creditor calls by my Langhorne rep, so let's hope they don't call my references. :(

iguana, they won't call your references. Don't worry about that. Good for Langhorne telling you not to take their calls. We would have told you that anyway! LOL! Don't take the calls! I have had TONS of internet loans and not one out of ALL of them called any of my references. They were too busy harrassing me. I wouldn't fear them calling anyone. I can almost promise you this. But I won't promise, because with these guys, anything is possible! But I had 12 internet loans, and some with the ugliest ones possible, and none of them called my references. Now, yes, they did try calling me at work, which was a pain in the a$$.

"Dear (name removed for your safety. cannr):

We received your payment of $87.10.

Your confirmation number is 484409.

Your current loan balance is $273.27. And the due date for your next
payment is Friday, November 02, 2007"

Hahahaha... if only they knew...

Still no old account on my online banking, so I know that this is just some silly automated message that is saying they sent the ACH out. It typically didn't even hit my account for the first time until the next day.

cannr: Ok, I'll try to stop stressing about that. I'm not worried about if they call my boyfriend, just if they call my mom. :P

iguana, do not worry. I had "real" people listed as my references. Not one was called. I really, really doubt they are going to call. I swear, out of 12 (and that's quite a few!), none called. Just called me! LOL! And, yes, this is a nice computer generated "debit confirmed" notice. Oh, give them just a few days. Probably by the middle of next week, they'll start tripping out since the debits were rejected!

Well, that'll help alright! LOL! But you honestly should be feeling good. You are so on the right track. You've got it going on! You're going to be fine. Especially with Langhorne working for you. At least you won't have to deal with the harrassment and threats. Good for you! Have a vodka and Coke Zero for me! :D

Meh... the phone calls have started.

OneClickCash just called me at work. Unfortunately, I am the only one on my work's phone queue, so when I answered, I was forced to talk to them. :(

I informed them that I am working with Langhorne and that they should be expecting a letter from Langhorne shortly. They asked for Langhorne's phone number and when I asked them to please not call my work phone number and offered my cell phone, they said they will no longer need to call me and that they will deal with Langhorne directly.

So at the very least, they have been diverted. I'm sure Langhorne won't be too happy with me having to toss them off to them before sending my first payment, but I had no other choice. :(

Oh well, iguana! They're going to be helping you soon anyway, might as well start throwing their phone number at the pdls! At least you got one of your back. Personally, I would continue to give the phone number out so they won't call you again. Good job today! :D

Holy cow!

My cell phone rings with an unavailable number. No voicemail. My work phone rings, no voicemail. My work phone rings again, voicemail... it's MTE Financial. My cell phone rings with one phone number, no voicemail. My cell phone rings again with a different phone number, voicemail from the same voice as the MTE lady on my work phone, only this time, it was SUPER rude and b*tchy.

'Miss F., Time is not a luxury in this matter. You need to contact me IMMEDIATELY on this at xxx-xxx-xxxx.'

Rude people think they're going to get their money by being snippy with me... they've got another thing coming! :P

Oh, iguana! You poor, poor girl! They will hound you into the ground! Good for you for not taking those calls! They are horrible, horrible, horrible. I swear, my phone would ring all day long. It drove me insane! No messages. Just hang up. Lordy. Hang in there, honey! :D

Just wanted to update everyone on how things are going...

My payment to Langhorne successfully cleared my account on Monday, so I have to assume they started hitting heavily with the letters on Tuesday. My phone was ringing off the hook, at least a phone call every 20-30 minutes from 8am-8pm every day. I would call back the storefronts, which were minimal, since I visited them all prior to my due date. The rest of the calls have gone straight to voicemail.

Yesterday, it was eerie. I didn't receive a single phone call from 8am until almost 4pm! Towards the end of the day yesterday, I received an email from ThinkCash:

Quote:

THIS IS NOT AN ATTEMPT TO COLLECT A DEBT

We received your request to cease and desist all collection efforts on
your account, and will honor your request. However, we remind you of
your promise to pay under the terms of the Loan Agreement. Further, we
may report information about your account to credit reporting agencies.
Late payments, missed payments or other defaults on your account may be
reflected on your credit report.

We have flexible payment options that we can discuss with you.

Please contact us.

I have yet to speak with my Langhorne representative since making my payment, but obviously, she's doing something! :) I'm still receiving calls (mostly from First Bank of Delaware and a very persistant CashNetUSA - 4 times today alone!), but my phone is noticeably more quiet. :)

I can't wait until I start hearing about settlements!

Oh, you guys would also be proud of me... I took on Dollar Financial in regards to a storefront loan. They kept calling my phone, so I called them back. I explained that I am unable to pay based on their CFSA terms and the best I can do is $50/month for the next 4 months and paying off in the 5th month.

The rep tried to say, 'well, I need $80 now'.
'Well, I'm sorry, I don't have $80 now and the best I can do is what I've already told you. I will be paying $50 on the 16th.'
'Well, I'm sorry, but that won't stop collections.' 'That's too bad. You will get your money, I just have to pay it off on my terms.'
'I'll notate your record.'

I stood firm and felt empowered when I told him. :)

iguana! Sounds like Langhorne is "doing their thing"! Awesome! Now, if only your phone would stop ringing! I can't wait to hear of your progress! And I smiled SO BIG when I read about your dealings with Dollar Financial. Way to stand up for yourself! You are going in the right direction, iguana! Soon, you'll be FREE! :D

Has anyone read up on First Bank of Delaware? I
found this by searching their name.
"Federal Government Orders First Bank of Delaware to Exit Payday Loan Industry."
It also mentioned this installment loans.
