I seem to have gotten myself into the same troubles I am reading about on this forum. However I am not finding any information regarding the state I live in, Wisconsin. I did look up the link on the states information and it didn't look promising, it showed no limits, etc. I did borrow all my money over the internet so i don't know if that makes a difference, I have borrowed from a bunch (trying to keep up) I know some were check into cash, check n go, payday one, united cash, mte financials, mycash now....any advice on where to start?

Well, ishouldhavelistened, I know that united cash loans, my cash now, and mte are not legal. I am pretty sure the others are not legal, either. In fact, I don't even think my cash now is in the U.S. They are in Canada, I think. Probably the best place to start is to close your bank account and re-open another one at a different bank. Please read the sticky regarding closing bank accounts before you proceed, though.

Check into cash and check n go are licensed in WI because they also have storefronts here. Don't worry this will be ok. You need to contact those 2 asap and try and make different arrangements with them. The others you don't want to put a stop payment on because they will come up as a different name or amount. In WI there is no criminal action allowed for your check going back NSF or account closed. But there can be if you default and do not pay the licensed lenders. What you need to do first is contact the 2 that are licensed and inform them that you will be closing your checking account because of some unauthorized actions on the account. And at the moment you cannot open a new one (you know thats a lie but you DO NOT want to give out new info) Tell them that you can send in money orders to pay on the account. Then file complaints with WI department of financial institutions for the rest. Along with the BBB and the state AG where they are located in. The DFI is going to be getting back to me on MTE because I am dealing with them right now.
I have been working with Kathleen Hanna at the WI DFI on all my internet loans. Give them a call and she can inform you on what else you can do.

Right now WI is trying to get a interest cap on these loans (but the storefronts are putting up a pretty big fight on that) and they are also trying to get rollovers set to only 4 per loan. So things are trying to look up. But to do this you also need to write letters to the DOJ and inform them on how the payday loans have taken over your finances and WI consumers need to be protected. They are the ones who vote on these things. So the more WI residents send in letters the more they may be willing to vote in favor of the consumers. At lest that is what my rep told me. So send in those letters and get the reps. moving!!!!
