Hi

I have a questions I live in Texas and received a PDL they have threatened to garnish all my money from a different checking account can they do this?

Westbury Ventures. I am not sure if they have my information but they state that if I do not come up with the money by the end of the business day they will take out all my money from my current checking account. They informed me that they are using a Check recovery service to pull all my existing accounts. I only have one.

checking account info is not a matter of public record. What they are probably doing is checking CL Verify which is a "service" that is used by grocery stores, some retailers, etc to verify that your checking account info is valid.

When you write a check at a place that "swipes" your check and DL, it pings CL verify.

Its not as easy as they are making it seem....it is rare but it has happened a just a couple times here. To minimize this risk, dont write checks at merchants.

Ah ok. So the checking account you used to get the loan is closed, you have a new checking account and a savings account..?

You can certainly transfer it..however, if they do debit your current checking account, like I mentioned its rare, you can dispute it with the bank.

They are going to say everything under the sun to scare you...if they had your new account, they would have bled it dry by now, believe me. They are the worst.

I received a letter from Westbury stating that they would use Check Recovery to access any and all accts to get their money. I was with Langhorne debt solutions at the time and they advised me to forward this letter to my attorney general and that they would also contact the attorney generaly. I very quickly received response from Westbury that my acct was paid in full and received no other correspondence.

I don't know if that is legal but it is not a good way to do business.

I've had the same problems with Westbury however they have actually withdrawn over 1400 from my account on a borrowed 390. I've my account overdrawn 3 times due to this. I haven't a clue how they figured out my checking account information since the only checks I write are for rent out of this account.
