I just got a settlement notice for MCM on a Providian card i didn't recognize.I then sent a certified registered DV letter and disputed them on my credit report.
Turns out the original creditor has the wrong by one digit social and my Fathers(im a junior)address.Of course when i call now they wont talk to me but send me to MCM.
They also just sent me another settlement offer dated 8 days after they received my dv

If you're absolutely certain it's not yours, send them a complet
If you're absolutely certain it's not yours, send them a complete cease-and-desist letter, CMRRR. In that, tell them that they have the wrong person.
It may not [likely won't] stop them from hassling you. But if you document everything carefully, you'll have a nice little fdcpa case in a little while.

The 809g notice is not required for letters after first notice from ca. You do have a violation of continued collection for sending the letter before validating this debt. If you dispute with credit bureaus properly in writing you can also add more violations to hang them with.

Im pulling my bank records from 2000-2005 to see if there is any record of payments to them.I just wanna know if i owe it or not
