Where do I start?

I have managed to put myself into a huge debt hole. I can no longer keep up with the payments as they come due. So far the only thing I have been late on is my mortgage. Where do I start to negotiate with the credit card companies? Will they work with me if I haven't had any late payments? Should I close the accounts before negotiating? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Keep you mortgage, and any other debt secured by an asset, up to date. Pay the credit cards last. Call the credit cards; sometimes they will let you go 90 days without paying. Get debt counseling. Cut all your credit cards in half; start using a debit card.

I agree with jheard, Getting current on your home is more import

I agree with jheard, Getting current on your home is more important. Stop using your credit cards and get on a strict budget. No eating out, no partying etc. start working on your CC's after you are current on your home, utilities and transportation.Get a partime job till you get the debts payed. Good luck.
