A collection agency sent me a letter telling me that if I pay my $250 bill from Macy's (like 4 years ago) that the original creditor will give me another card. I don't need another credit card and I'm planning on paying the balance but does this sound like one of their tactics or is it true since they told me this in writing? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It might be a card through Northland. Do not ever agree to a collection agency offering you credit. They generally have outrageous fees and you become indebted to them. Thats when they get you because the fdcpa would no longer apply to them as it would become first party collections.
