Okay; just received a call at work (caller ID says: 1st IRS) and the women didn't say what company she was with, but that a claim has come to her with account #********* and she needs to talk to me today. Stated that my claim will go to her review board tomorrow for a decision. If I don't contact her today then I should call my legal council to call. And she wishes me the best of luck...now what the heck does that mean???

Again, she did not say who she was with or what company she was collecting for....oh, the account # she game me ended in my last for digits of my ss...if they were collection on my credit card debt; i would assume she would not have given the last four digits..

the number is 877-777-2551..does anyone recognize that number? And I called it and they answer "legal dept"...

any advice???? please....

First off, check to make sure this company is licensed to collect in Texas. Being that they are located in Texas odds are they will be.

Second, take down notes of the conversation. If Texas is a one party consent state record your next phone call with them.

From what she said to you she is breaking the rules . . . .

I kind of want to email them instead and let them know I just received a call from the lady and also send a validation letter?

Is that a good idea....

I want all in writing; forget the telephone...

Thoughts.

Ok, they are legal....

So, i am thinking to email them stating that I received a phone call from so and so and that I prefer all communication in writing and also send them a debt validation letter???

What if they are collection on an illegal loan? Not for sure yet..

So can I go ahead and send a validation letter too? Since I am writing instead of calling...

do i just search for that letter in the search engine above?

Yes, send them an email, but also send them a certified letter, return receipt. You may need to have proof they received it. I would send the email to the guys listed above, and detail out how your phone call went. Tell them you know the laws, and feel that this call went beyond them. Just be careful not to threaten them with anything.

Once we find out who they are collecting for, we can go down the road of if it's legal . . . .

Oh, sent an email to both the gentleman in above post; and the first one came back to me as unknown recipient.

I guess they don't update their website much...guess we will have to see...I will be mailing my letter as well.

thanks for everything.

If you ask a 3rd party collection agency to not call you at one of your numbers, they are not allowed to BY LAW. Collection companies are not allowed to disclose who they are and what they are calling in regards to because it is considered 3rd party dosclosure. (You can't gaurentee who will hear to the message.)If you speak with a Rep, verify your info, you can then find out if they still have the debt - and if so, work out arrangements for resolution. Some collection agencies do not follow the fdcpa and some work right on the line of what is legal and not legal. I am not familiar with this agency, but the best thing to do is contact the company. Remember - your charged off debt is accruing interest every day. Sometimes a settlement is the best way to get rid of the debt, often at less than what you originally owed.

I SAW YOUR MESSAGES ABOUT FIRST INTEGRAL RECOVERY SERVICE AND I TOO HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THEM, THIS MAN CALLED MY WORK ACTING AS THOUGH HE WAS AN INVESTIGATER WITH THE IRS LEGAL DEPT. NOT FIRST IRS BUT HE SAID IRS, I ASKED HIM TO REPEAT IT TWICE AND BOTH TIMES HE SAID IRS... I LATER FOUND OUT HE WAS REALLY JUST SOME DEBT COLLECTOR WITH A LAW FIRM ASSOCIATED WITH FIRST INTEGRAL RECOVERY SERVICES AND HE WAS DEF NOT FROM THE IRS.. AND ON TOP OF THAT HE LEFT MESSAGES WITH MY CO WORKERS ABOUT THIS MATTER CLAIMING HE WAS AN INVESTIGATER WITH THE IRS, SO ALL MY CO WORKERS THOUGHT I WAS IN TROUBLE WITH THE GOVERNMENT, HE EVEN THREATENED TO CALL MY HR DIRECTOR... I REPORTED HIM TO BBB.ORG BUT HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING YET SO WE'LL SEE, GOOD LUCK:)

I'm currently dealing with them but they will not send me anything regarding what I owe or where the dates were coming from. They are demanding I give them my acct number!! What should I do? I'm frustrated! They also claim I have given my in-laws as references and I know I WOULD NEVER, NEVER do that! They said they were going to EMAIL me documented proof but then they kept me on hold for 10 minutes!
