allegro law
well i have spoken with some one with allegro law, and it sounds like a good thing, im just wondering if anyone had any success with this company, cause in the past i got screwed by a company CNI, and i don't want to get screwed again, i just want to know if anyone had any experience with allegro law, cause i don't know what else to do with my did.
Allegro Law Firm
I have been with Allegro Law since Dec 08 for credit settlement. They have negotiated with all my creditors for lower interest rates and I pay them an additional $59 per month for their services.. I am trying to find a credit counseling firm that is reliable but does not cost so much each month.
its a HUGE scam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THE SALES REP FOR ALLEGRO LAW MADE IT ALL SOUND SO GOOD...I SIGNED UP FOR A 66 MONTH PROGRAM THAT WOULD ALLEVIATE $34,000 OF DEBT AND FOR THIS I WOULD PAY $295 PER MONTH WHICH WAS AUTOMATICALLY DEDUCTED FROM MY CHECKING ACCOUNT. THIS LYING BITCH ALLEGRO REP NAMED TERRY TOLD ME THAT OUT OF THE $295 EACH MONTH THAT I PAY ONLY $60 GOES TO ALLEGRO'S FEES SO $235 WOULD GO TO SETTLING MY DEBTS. WHAT SHE DIDNT TELL MY IS THAT FOR THE FIRST 18 MONTHS THEY KEEP ALL YOUR MONEY AND DONT START ACCUMULATING YOUR DEBT SETTLING MONEY UNTIL YOU PAY THEM SOMEWHERE AROUND $5000!!! I AM VERY PISSED AT THIS F**KED UP SCAM LYING COMPANY AND WISH TO GOD I JUST TOOK THE BANKRUPCY ROUTE. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT IN 99% OF INSTANCES THE CREDITORS WILL NEGOTIATE WITH ALLEGRO AND NOT TAKE THE INDEBTED CUSTOMER TO COURT.. SO I GUESS I WAS EITHER ONE OF THE UNLUCKY 1% OR I WAS JUST BEING BLATANTLY LIED TO SO THE SALES REP CAN GET HER COMMISSION. I AM BEING SUED BY CITIBANK FOR $6000 AND WHEN I FIRST SIGNED CONTRACT W ALLEGRO I OWED $5100. SO IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS MY ACCOUNT WITH CITIBANK ACCUMULATED $900 IN INTEREST WHEN ALLEGRO IS SITTING ON MY $3600 THAT I PAID THEM SO FAR. THIS $3600 THEY SAID IS SUPPOSED TO GO INTO AN ESCROW ACCOUNT UNTIL ENOUGH MONEY WAS GATHERED TO PAY OFF SOME OF MY DEBT. WHEN REALLY ONLY $76.00 WENT INTO THE ESCROW AFTER 12 WHOLE MONTHS!!!!!! THE REST WENT TO "MISCELLANEOUS FEES". THIS IS HOW THEY MAKE THEIR MONEY. ITS A SCAM. THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF INDEBTED PEOPLE. PLEAASE PPL READ THE CONTRACTS CAREFULLY AND SEEK OTHER AVENUES OF DEBT RELIEF... GOOD LUCK!!
Allegro Law Firm LLc
After a year of paying lot's of money that I thought most of which was accumulating in escrow to negociate settlement on accounts only 1/3 went into escrow and 2/3rds was applied to attorney fees and they did nothing but send a few letters!!The only money they will refund so far is my escrow amount. This should be considered piracy on land! Something should be done to regulate the recruting techniques of companies feeding on people who have fallen on hard times due to the practices of these big banks.

Allegro Law Firm, WHO ARE THEY?
Recently I called my credit card company to see if they could reduce the Percentage rate so the payments wouldn't be so high. They agreed to drop to 6.99% interest for a year and minimum payments of 1% during that time.
Two days later I had a withdrawal of $249.00 from my checking account listed as WITHDRAWAL ALLEGRO LAW FIRM. I HAD NOT AGREED ANYTHING WITH THEM, IT WAS MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY THAT I DISCUSSED THE CHANGE WITH AND THEY AGREED AND SET IT UP FOR ME.
Can anyone help me get my money back? I can't pay an attorney $500 to collect the $249 Allegro stole.
I just found an address for them, so will write them a scorching letter.

I was just talked into allegro law for one credit card
I have never been late on my credit card. I heard about this on KHCB Christian radio. I called & was talked into this by Allegro law. I already sent them money a few days ago. Have I made a huge mistake?
Allegro Law Firm, WHO ARE THEY?
I investigated them and geve them some information thinking I would wait until the next day to decide. I couldn't get their phone, the message was they weren't available. I suppose the time difference was the problem.
I intended to leave a message that I wasn't interested, but dont know whether it went through.
A week or so later, there was a withdrawal from my bank account for $249 - I don't think I authorized it, as the day after I had talked to them, I called my credit card company and they worked a deal out with me that I could live with.
I wasn't able to talk to anyone on the phone at Allegro, so let it slide thinking all was okay until my bank statement came.
Today I got a letter from Allegro law congratulating me and thanking me for joining their company. They will be happy to assist me in solving the problem as soon as I send the first payment (they are requesting $59 per month which I wasn't aware of) they will "send proposals to each of (my) your creditors,...."
Now I am in a fight for the return of the$249 they stolen from my bank.
Exactly what info did you give them (Allegro)? SS? Bank account
Exactly what info did you give them (Allegro)? SS? Bank account #'s? Route #?
Allegro Law
They are crooks! They took over $3000 from my account without authorization and it's been nearly 6 months trying to get it refunded - no luck yet!
Newspaper article
If you do a search on Allego Law firm.. you will see this from an newspaper article dated May 9th, 2009.
NEW YORK, NY (May 7, 2009) - Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo today announced a nationwide investigation into the debt settlement industry, subpoenaing fourteen debt settlement companies and one law firm. Companies in the debt settlement industry often prey upon consumers who find themselves unable to keep up with credit card payments during these difficult economic times. As part of his broad investigation of the debt settlement industry, Cuomo today issued subpoenas to fourteen debt settlement companies and one law firm: American Debt Foundation, Inc.; American Financial Service; Consumer Debt Solutions; Credit Answers, LLC; Debt Remedy Solutions, LLC; Debt Settlement America; Debt Settlement USA; Debtmerica Relief; DMB Financial, LLC; Freedom Debt Relief; New Era Debt Solutions; New Horizons Debt Relief Inc.; Preferred Financial Services, Inc.; U.S. Financial Management Inc. (d.b.a. My Debt Negotiation); and the Allegro Law Firm.
The subpoenas include requests designed to uncover the companies??? fee structures, how many people have benefitted from the companies??? services, and what kind of relief the companies are actually providing.
Cuomo is also currently investigating Nationwide Asset Services, Inc., based in Phoenix, Arizona, and Credit Solutions of America, Inc., based in Addison, Texas.
The debt settlement plans offered by these companies are often inherently flawed and, based upon consumer complaints, it appears that many consumers are being misled regarding the nature of the services offered by these companies. For example, some companies falsely represent that they can reduce consumers??? credit card debt by as much as 75 percent through negotiations with creditors. In addition, the companies often take their fees up front and keep their fees even when they do not provide the promised services.
The debt settlement plans are generally premised on consumers aggregating savings, over one to three years, from which both the payment of the company???s fees and any negotiated settlement are to be made. Yet most consumers who are targeted by these companies are unable to meet the savings requirements because of their precarious financial situation.
Some of the companies also urge consumers to seek additional sources of funds through means such as selling their blood plasma, mowing lawns, cutting down on car insurance, and borrowing from their neighbors and church. Even for those consumers who can meet the requirements set out by a plan, their amount of aggregated savings is ordinarily insufficient to settle their debts. As a result, many consumers find themselves worse off financially because of these debt settlement plans.
Many consumers may benefit more from working directly with their creditors, seeking credit counseling, or consulting an attorney about filing for bankruptcy. Additionally, even when enrolled in a debt settlement plan, consumers are often still subjected to collection efforts and lawsuits filed by their creditors. Consumers are even told not to discuss their debt situation with creditors.
Attorney General Cuomo has actively pursued unscrupulous companies and individuals that have attempted to take advantage of people who are experiencing personal financial problems during these trying economic times. On April 14, 2009, the Attorney General arrested the owner of Long Island-based American Legal Process for allegedly providing ???sewer service??? to thousands of New Yorkers owing debt. According to the Attorney General???s criminal complaint and civil suit, this company failed to properly notify individuals that they faced debt-related lawsuits. As a result, individuals would unknowingly default and have judgments entered against them, without the chance to defend themselves.
Consumers who believe they are being defrauded by a debt settlement company are urged to contact the Attorney General???s office at 800-771-7755
The Attorney General???s investigation of the debt settlement industry is being spearheaded by the Bureau of Consumer Frauds and Protection in New York City and several of the Attorney General???s Regional Offices across the state, under the supervision of Consumer Frauds Bureau Chief Joy Feigenbaum and Deputy Attorney General for Regional Affairs David Sampson.

Well thank all of you for your input. Now I know what (Allegro Law) is saying about helping me is to good to be true! I will NOT join this Law firm for help. I will do it myself with my Creditors! I have never been behind and I have good credit. I want to keep it that way. But my payments are over whelming!
in litigation
I have signed up with Allegro Law and they have already gotten alot of money from me and I have done everything that they have told me and now I am in litigation with a collector. When I called Allegro Law they said I needed to sign some papers and send them back in before they could help me. One of the papers is a legal disclaimer which really concerns me. Has anyone else had to go through this. I also read about Allegro Law being served a subpeona. I really cannot afford to lose the money I paid them but I am at a loss as to what to continue with them or not.
Don't do it
They high pressure you into signing a contract and make it sound so good. Once you sign the contract, that's it. I was told I would have my own personal representative who I could call at any time with any questions or concerns. I have her name and telephone number, but you have to leave a message and she never calls me back. I tried to send a message to them on their web page and no one has ever tried to contact me back. So much for the personal service.
I put down that they could debit my bank account on the 15th of each month because that's when I get paid, but after you sign the contract it gives them the right to change the debit date anytime they want to. My date went to the 13th, two days before I get paid and I have to pay an nsf fee to my bank because it overdraws.
I still get copies of my credit cards bills and have noticed that some of them have not been paid on time and incurred late fees.
I???m thoroughly disgusted for getting myself into a mess like this ??? first with the credit cards and now with Allegro Law. DON???T DO IT.
GET OUT !!
I recently just signed up with Allegro Law, but after reading all the post about Allegro Law firm today I called them to cancel! When u dont have $500.00 a month to wait 3-6 months to see if something might work out and your stomach starts to feel queasy; RUN! Thats what I did after being in the program for 3 weeks. I started to get suspicious when Discover was calling me damm near 7-10 times a day for the 3rd striaght week! Bank Of America didnt call me once they just raised my minimum payment 360.00 bucks ! I would call Allegro and my Rep would always give me the sells pitch that its normal for your creditors to harass you because they are just doing there jobs at billing and they might not have received our proposal's as of yet. BS! I dont have time for you to collect money from me at $500.00 a month and have the calls from creditors keep coming and my debt keeps growing! Thanks but NO THANKS. I called Discover and Bank Of America and they reduced my APR's from 14.99% to 4.9% at Bank of America and at Discover it went from 10.99% to 2.9% but the catch is I could no longer use the cards and am on a 5 year plan at 192.00 for Discover and 198.00 a month at B.O.A, but who in the hell cares! I still have one card thats just for real emergencies without a balance at $2000 bucks so I'll just weather the strom and cut back and rest knowing that I settled with my creditors myself and I dint get taking to the cleaners by a Scam credit counseling place. Hey maybe Iam wrong about this place but I would always choose my gut instincts before anything!

I have been with them for over a year now and they have saved me alot of money... 2 paid off credit cards 3 to go.
$16,000 in debt that i had trouble paying... it will be taken care of within the next year...

very pushy, spoke in a rude condesending tone and I think he was wasted! no way! I'm going to find another way...$59.00 charge a month for the service to you...I'd rather put that toward my debt.
Allegro Law Firm
No, Allegro Law is NOT the same as Hess Kennedy or Campos, Hess Kennedy and Campos got themselves in trouble by suing the largest banks on behalf of the debtors they represented by forcing these banks to provide a forensic accounting for the balances they claimed the debtor owed them. To my knowledge Hess Kennedy and Campos invalidated over $25 million of peoples debt utilizing this strategy and consequently got in trouble for claiming to be able to invalidate people's debt. As far as Allegro Law Firm, my company Information removed. Please read TERMS OF SERVICE for a more detailed description regarding advertising. Shazzers refers a lot of business to them for their superior results in Debt Repayment Plans through Credit Counseling and Debt Settlement for those who cannot afford the minimum payment REQUIRED in a credit counseling program. But Allegro does not attempt to invalidate your debt. Good choice of law firms!

ummm....Bobby I did EXTENSIVE research on Allego Law. If you have read the thread you would have known that. I've also had some of my boys trace IP addresses. YES I DID. This isn't the ONLY forum they are trying to run their scam. Allegro Law is just another front for Hess Kennedy. Like MANY other companies out there. Like I said...they have a VAST number of companies running the scam and others. It seems Americorp is central station for the scam. Edward Cherry (waltj and others) or whatever name he is in the mood to use, (P.Young & Donavan on another site forum) said so himself on THIS thread. Did you read that or you missed it?
The connection is not always obvious. You have to really DIG to find some of it. And I dug a lot. You can't find it all because they open up and close, change names and use different front people.
The industry is screwed up because....WELL....MOST are SCAMS. THAT'S WHY. It's easy (LEGAL manipulation) money. They did it all to themselves. They are for profit organizations and a for profit industry.

More Info On The Credit Exchange and Hess-Kennedy Law Firm
I am attaching something from another former employee who had seen red flags on The Credit Exchange back in 2007 and Hess-Kennedy, which is the law firm that The Credit Exchange was putting clients into for debt settlement programs, fully aware they were scams:
Hess Kennedy is a law firm that specializes in handling credit counseling claims and debt negtiation claims. The 2 founders of the law firm are Laura Hess and Edward Kennedy (formely known as Edward Cherry). I am a former employee of a company called 'The Credit Exchange' and I can tell you that my manager would push me to know end on placing debt burden consumers into a settlement/reduction program because the commission was higher and the company made more money. The owner of 'The Credit Exchange' is Steve Vanderhoof and to say the least he is a very egotistical person who only cares about his pockets....so does hit puppet Joshua Dryman (he hired me). I am glad that I got out of that office it was very stressful. The programs we offered are complete scams. Hess Kennedy came into the picture, along with another outfit called ESS (Not sure what that stands for, I believe Enhanced Solutions). ESS is located in Tampa or Orlando FL. I can't remember which one, but everytime a client was not getting a call back I would refer it to our in house customer service rep Travis Whiteside. He would do his best and I feel really bad for the poor kid as he would get hundreds of calls a day.
So once in a while I would call the ESS customer service department and get hung up on or placed on hold myself. All I wanted to do was find out what was going on with clients I enrolled. They have a manager over there who's name is Anthony and he is very rude ignorant person not only with me but even some of the managers at the credit exchange. I can only imagine what he was saying to customers on the phone. The other person who I spoke with is Kristen or Sharon.
The bottom line is that all of these companies are cheating thousands if not millions of dollars a month out of customers bank accounts. Hess Kennedy would periodically visit our office in California to more or less just go over how much they can continue to offer. The ownders of Hess Kennedy, ESS and Mr. Vanderhoof will be dealing with the Attorney Generals office and FBI very very soon. They will not last!

Allergro
I only talked to a representative from Allergro a couple of months ago. We went over several options. I told the lady I would get back to her, which I never did because I found another company, Mesa Rock, who offered a better deal for way less monthly money I would have to pay. I never called back to Allergro. However, they went ahead and drafted money out of my account in the amount of $1,523 without my consent. Needless to say, I called and traced down the payment. One lady I spoke with in customer service said if I would fax her a statement indicating that I did not wish to contract with Allergro, my money would be reinstated to my checking account. Understand that I never gave my final consent to a contract.
After a few days, I called the company to see if my fax was received and to check the status of my refund. I was told that I had electronically signed a contract and the fee could not be returned because I had waited longer than 10 days to request a refund. Allergro drafted my account on June 2. I called the same day to get a refund. This lady stated that someone made a mistake in telling me I would get a refund. How would I know to void a contract that I never agreed to in writing. They are just trying to keep my money. Therefore, I would not recommend doing business with Allergro at all. Stay far away from them because they are a rip off.
Allegro Law Firm
Has anyone been with Allegro for an extended period of time that can shed some light on their experiece good or bad?
HELP!!!
I contacted Allegro Law in October 2008, at the time I have never been behind and I have good credit but the payments to the creditors were too high. I contacted the creditors and wanted to negotiate a lower payment schedule and was told that nothing could be done. Since I wanted some kind of dept relief I contacted Allegro Law. To make a long story short they have already gotten alot of money from me and I have done everything that they have told me and now I being sued by one of the creditors. When I called Allegro Law they said I needed to sign some papers and disclose all my dept and assests and send them back in before they could help me. One of the papers is a legal disclaimer, do anyone know what this document is? They also told me that I was going to get contacted by the legal dept, what a joke!! The person that called me sounded like a kid and when I asked him a legal question he responded by saying, "I can't answer or give you any legal advise, because I'm not a Lawyer!" (HUH???) So why did you called me I asked him and he's responce was to tell me to get a LAWYER!!! Beacuse they can't represent me in a court of law!! So, I have paid Allegro $618.00 monthly for the past 8 months which adds up to $4,944. according to the sells rep $539. goes to attorney's fee and $79. goes to escrow in total $4,312. went to them and $632. is in escrow so they can't even negotiate with the creditor that is suing me because I don't have enough in escrow!! I keep calling them and keep getting different storys. Now I have to hire a lawyer and spend more money that I don't have and still gonna have to pay the creditor whatever the judge awards them!! Has anyone else had to go through this. I really cannot afford to lose the money I paid them but I am at a loss as to continue with them or not. But my payments are over whelming! Oh forgot to mention that my credit score is RUINED!! Can't even get a parent plus loan for my son to go to college!!
Allegro Law
I just spoke with them and they will not give you any info until you "fill out" an application as they put it. I asked how much, give me something to read, etc. No, trust me. Whenever someone says 'trust me' - I don't
Allegro Law and The Credti Exchange
I just want to get on here and warn ANYONE even remotely considering doing business with either Allegro Law or The Credit Exchange to absolutely do not do it. The credit exchange "referred" us to this law firm and made all the fancy promises about how they could settle this debt and that debt, etc. Well we paid the up front fees which basically means they get a bunch of money for doing nothing.
We decided to quit the program before we lost anymore money. We requested a full refund which as they told us we are not entitled to as the fees are non-refundable. So basically we gave this firm $2,000 to do nothing for us.
After I consulted my attorney general in my state they informed me that a debt settlement company is not allowed to take up front fees in my state. I filed a claim with them to get my money back.
In the mean time I called Allegro law and informed them of this in which case I was told I would receive a full refund. Well the period of time passed for it to arrive so I called again. After much confusion I was again told they would expedite the payment and the lady I spoke with said she would call me to confirm later that day. Well, surprise - She never called. So, I called again and was told I would receive no refund. I asked to speak with a supervisor who told me the decision was made by the "agency" to not refund my money. I asked who the "agency" was and she said the Credit Exchange which was who we initially talked to. She gave me a number to call them at. Well, I tried that number and it was an adult entertainment chat number - Thanks a lot for the accurate number. I then looked the Credit Exchange number up on the net and called it. The guy who initially signed us up (Nick) just kept repeating the same stuff and said we need to speak to customer service. He then said he would transfer me and when he went to he hung up.
I am still aggressively pursuing this through my attorney general but in the meantime - PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THESE CROOKS. You will end up worse off.
I really think when the credit card companies see you signed up with outfits like this they actually pursue you even harder.

Well now Mr. "Nick" with The Credit Exchange sent us copies of the great letters they sent out to our creditors which is what he claims they have done for us and why they should keep my $2,000.00 . It is a basic form letter with a photocopied signature of Mr. Helms the alleged lawyer of the operation at the bottom. The morons didn't even get the right SSN as the ones to my creditors have my wife's SSN instead of mine.
I will fight these crooks to the day I die. My only hope is nobody else falls these scam artists with this worthless company.

They have been a part of an investigation by the NY attorney general. The North Carolina attorney general's office on July 1st, 2009 announced that Allegro Law is one of 12 companies that have been issued Cease and Desist letters demanding they stop violating North Carolina law.
You see it in is in the general statutes of North Carolina that a debt settlement company is not allowed to charge up front fees for their Alleged service.
Apparently, the so called lawyer at Allegro "so called" law did not know this and in doing so committed a felony. I am proud to say I played a part in exposing these crooks.
Hess Kennedy and The Consumer Law Center claimed to help people
Hess Kennedy and The Consumer Law Center claimed to help people reduce their debts by nearly two-thirds in exchange for an upfront fee of as much as 15 to 20 percent of a consumer???s total debt. Instead of paying off consumers??? bills, the defendants kept most of the money. Last year, Cooper won a permanent injunction that bars the firms from any debt settlement services in North Carolina. To try to recover refunds for North Carolina consumers, Cooper???s office in May of 2009 filed a proof of claim with the receiver appointed to handle the companies??? assets.
Life Changing Credit Repair Services and its owner, Anquella Davis promised to fix consumers??? credit so they could qualify for home loans and other lines of credit. The company charged consumers $150 to $500 upfront and then failed to repair consumers??? credit or increase their credit scores. The Attorney General won a temporary restraining order and a preliminary injunction in 2008 barring the firm from engaging in business in violation of NC law, including prohibiting it from collecting advance fees for credit repair. The company has since shut down, and the court issued an entry of default against the defendants last month.
Included in today???s sweep, the Attorney General???s Office issued cease and desist letters to 12 debt settlement and credit repair operations in the past six months. The letters demand that the following companies stop violating North Carolina law:
Credit repair firms Aces Credit Solutions of St. Charles, IL and Gloria Diggs of Charlotte.
Debt settlement firms Federal Debt Relief System of Hollywood, CA; Paradigm Financial and Investments, Inc. of Fullerton, CA; No More Mortgage of Orem, UT; Accelerated Debt Relief of Murphy, TX; Lawgistix, LLC of Miramar Beach, FL; Allegro Law of Prattville, AL; Global Financial Group of Henderson, NV; and Colonial Financial Solutions of Turnersville, NJ.
Now here is the logic FOLLOW ME HERE: If Allegro Law LLC has a network of lawyers around the country Like they CLAIM to have (Their site claims they have 2 in NC) SHOULDN'T they have known that taking upfront fees in NC was against the law.
I'm just saying. THINK about that.
I used Allegro Law firm their "settlements" included 50% profit
I used Allegro Law firm their "settlements" included 50% profit which stills seemed low at first. But in the end they never settled anything! More than a year passed with absolutely no progress, just making me run around for them calling my creditors and acquiring info for them... rediculous company, do not do it! I would have saved more than 20% on payments if I had negotiated directly with creditors. They do not settle anything until getting paid in full amount... this is an example of a bat debt solutions company. Please don't make the same mistakes, call your creditors directly, and plead with them, they can be more than reasonable. Then choose a company that will charge less and only if they make progress initially upon first payment garanteed. Otherwise DONOT DO IT!!!! Now allegro is refusing to solve my debts and is refunding me only 75% of what I paid!!! REDICULOUS.... they are thieves, do not do it!!!

If you have been scammed by these folks don't give up. File a claim with your attorney general and file a complaint with the BBB.
I spoke with an employee with our attorney general here in NC and they have been contacted by the Alabama officials. They are now being investigated for a variety of fradulent activity there as well.
In the meantime I cannot stress this enough to anyone considering this scam - DO NOT FALL FOR IT.
