I was making payments on credit cards but due to illness of family member with no prescription coverage, we had to pay for her prescriptions after she had a mild stroke which in turn maxed out all our credit cards. We enrolled with Credit Consultants debt management program and have been making payments to them. One of our creditors has now filed a summons against me. I am so confused. I dont know what to do.

I contacted the attorney's office on the summons. The lady stated she had contacted the debt management company to make settlement but did not get a response back. She stated that they would accept a payment plan of no less than 125.00 based on the amount I owed. I set up the pplan in order to avoid garnishment. Per attorney office, they accept any form of payment just as long as it is received monthly...Interesting....anyway. She stated that if a payment was missed then they would proceed with garnishment. So I then called debt management company. Person I spoke with there stated that they did speak with attorney but that I did not have enough funds in acct to agree to settlement. I explained the payment plan. He stated that was best option. He removed this debt from program and lessened my payment to them by the payment plan amount. At this point, that was best option. But I do want to express to everyone, to make every effort to set up pplan if they well. Contact your debt management company and make them remove that debt and accomodate you. ITs your money that you are paying them.
