So back in 2006 I had a pdl and it was almost paid off when i closed my checking account...I only owe them $65 bucks now but they are requesting the full amount of $200 bucks...So what should I do....

Guest, please make sure you send them a revoke wage assignment letter, and give a copy of that to your employer also. You may or may not have signed an agreement with them in 2006 for them to attach your wages, but you can never be too careful, so DO send them a letter revoking any and all wage assignments, as well as giving a copy to your employer/payroll. Also, PLEASE file a complaint with your Attorney General and FTC.

i paid them back in 2006 when they where taking it out of my checking account....i looked at my checking account and i was one payment away from having them paid off....i should of found you guys like summer of 2006 because i have forked out so much money to pay of these loans that i got wrapped up in....i guess a lesson learn....what really bothers me is that they wait years after the loan was made to have contact with you...bugs the hell out of me....so i emailed them and told them that i only owe them the $65 bucks...and thats all i am paying....they even said in the email for me to use my incentive check that you will get from the irs...ok i havent gotten one yet...still waiting....

Wage assignments are different than garnishments, and does not require a court order, usually they are used by pdl's and listed in very small print on the original loan agreement, which simply states the customer agrees to allow said company to have deductions come automatically out of your pay check, if said customer defaults on the loan. However, wage assigments are strictly voluntary, this is why it's important to revoke it, just in case it was a part of your original loan agreement, these companies are notorious for attempting to use wage assignments.
