Citi Entry Removed, LVNV Come.... How to get it deleted?
Date: Mon, 06/23/2008 - 22:16
Later, Citi sold this account to LVNV, and somehow they obtained my correct address, and LVNV entered my CR.
I want to continue to dispute, but since they have my current address, if I continue to dispute as "not my account", the verification may come back as "accurate", then I am screwed.
Can I say "the citi account was deleted due to the wrong address it used, so the associated collection entry should be deleted as well"?
Will this work? Or is there a better way?

You can try, but your account was charged off. Therefore, the entry is accurate, and you have no actual basis to force the removal. Dispute for any reason you want, and force the collector to prove that the entry is legitimate.
You can also try a PFD.

"charged off" and "sold" means Citi has no responsibility to verify it any more, so I can not dispute it any more with Citi, right?
So all subsequent disputations can only go through LVNV, the new original credit, right?

I would DV it with LVNV and make sure it has a clause in there that during and until they verify, all collection activity must cease which includes reporting to CRA's. If they don't validate, then dispute with CRA. Make sure you send everything CMRRR.
Sounds like DV LVNV will only force them to provide the receipt
Sounds like DV LVNV will only force them to provide the receipt that they purchase the debt from Citi, nothing else.
Plus it will give them a verification of my current address, nothing good.
I heard a strategy as: DV CA first with CMRRR; when I obtain the receipt, dispute with CR immediately; if CA can not verify in time, it will be deleted. Is this way good?

LVNV probably can't validate. That seems to be the most common experience with them. I'm still waiting on DV from them after three months.

Actually, this Citi account does not show as "charged off" in TU and EP report because it is deleted already. Only collection account entry is shown there and does not carry "charged off"
Is there any chance to dispute and get it removed?

The citi card is shown as "charged off" on my EquiFax CR, together with the LVNV collection entry. It is a much harder case to dispute.
2 years ago, when I dispute online with EquiFax, I did not use the wrong address as a weapon. Too naive at that time.
