I have 6 payday loans, 3 I have made payments towards and 3 I haven't made a payment to yet. I have closed my bank account on the advice of PDL Assistance, a company I have paid $200 to in order to settle my loans. They did not initially inform me that they could not settle with the companies I have not made payments towards. Now, having closed my bank account, I have missed initial payments to them. Is there anything I can do about this? Does anyone know if PDL Assistance is legit? I am new to this forum (or any forum for that matter) so I apologize if I am asking questions that have been answered. Thank you!

Way to go both of you! So did they agree to mail the refunds to both of you? I have overpaid greatly on mine so I am hoping for the same. If I don't get a refund I will not care because I will be free but it would be a BONUS!

So far no response to my request to have the refund mailed as opposed to direct deposited.. I am hoping to hear something from them soon. If not, they will get another email tomorrow. I have it all in writting that they are saying they will send a refund, as well as stating that the account is closed and PIF.

It's funny, I was terrified to send anything saying I thought they had broken the law, but with a bit of support from the kind people here.. I did it, and now they have been quick to settle. I think having the specific information is highly beneficial, especially citing state law codes and citations.. lol.

It's a good day!
Jen

I just signed up with PDL Assistance and paid the 200 dollars to them. I already closed my account, and now am getting harassed. The lenders I have are:

Paycheck Today 300 / 180pd
B.I.G. Ltd. 200 /0 pd
CashAdvanceNetwork 300 / pd 180
Loan Shop 300 /135 pd
CashCentral (L&G Finance, Inc.) 300 / 76.03 pd
Amscot (walk-in) 500 / 0 pd
ameriloan 300 / 270 pd

I live in Florida, and need to know if I should cancel with PDL Assistance and do this myself, or what? Are these loans legal here in Florida?

Thanks!

I live in PA and know that my loans are legal although licensed in other states....however, is it illegal to solicit in PA? How should I proceed? I was thinking of hiring Langhorne debt solutions because I simply do not have the time or energy for some of this stuff. However, it seems that I will need to close my account anyway.
The following are my loans:
Paydayone- $950/have paid $500 in interest/fees
Paydaymax - $500/have paid $432 in interest/fees
Cashnetusa-$950/have paid ~$500 in interest/fees
The Loan Shop - $400/have paid $480 in interest/fees
I have seen everyone's letters and they are great. I just need to know how to do this step by step...I guess starting with the first step of closing my account and then sending cease-and-desist letters. However will they make payment arrangements with me? Thank you for any helpadvice you can offer!

Me and my husband started out with 2 pdls and then the cycle started where we were borrowing to pay the pdls and now have 12 and 2 interest pdls. We have got behind on everything now just to pay the finance charges on these pdls. Can someone help with the forms and what the steps are to handle this on your own. We are going to the bank this Monday and close our account out. We are not in default yet but it looks like we are going to be this week.

Name of pdls in Texas:

Cash Advance - borrowed $700 and 900 (paid 900 and 700)
Check N' Go - borrowed 900 and 800 (paid 2000 and 696)
Ace - borrowed 900 and 800 (paid 600 and 1400)
First Cash Advance - borrowed 500 and 600) paid 500 and 300)
The Cash Store - borrowed 1,000 and 700 (pd 1200 and 1560)
E-Z Cash Store - borrowed 700 and 800 (pd 1716 and 500)
CashNetUSA - borrowed 350 (pd 180)
MyCashNow - borrowed 300 (pd 111)

Some of these have been paid it seems with all the finance charges - really need help to pay these off once and for all.

Thanks!

I have six payday loans in Texas; I have been paying fees on some since Jan. 2009. They are eating up my paycheck (I get paid monthly) and I am left with nothing. I have looked at some of the information on this site but I would like to know if someone has the (Texas) laws in regards to them contacting you at work so that I may include them in my e-mails. Thanks so much!

I signed up with PDL Assistance in 11/08. $200 up front and $178 per month for 6 months. They get 30% of your monthly payment plus $29.95 maintenance fee. They do not start negotiations with creditors until you make all your payments (in my case 6 months). Have been trying to cancel with them but can't talk to anyone beyond the person answering phone. Called the bank where money was deposited and they are sending me the remainder of my $1,078 paid in which is $428. PDL kept all the rest and did not settle with any of my 3 payday loan creditors. They are a ripoff. Read the fine print in their contract!!!!! I owed $1,300 in payday loans. I was stupid for thinking they could settle with 3 companies when there was only $428 for them to pay out to creditors. #1 - DO NOT use payday loans but if you do, make the payments quickly, interest can run up to 700% and do NOT use PDL ASSISTANCE to help you. I got "screwed". When it sounds too good to be true, it almost always is!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I paid them approximately $1,000 for NOTHING.

I recently applied to PDL assistance. I had 3 loans all totaling about 1,300. I contacted PDL and they told me to put a payment of 175 down and 161 for 6 months, I thought this was great because if you dont have the money to pay the loans back you will be paying more then this in just loan fees. So I money gram the 175, I received the contacts from them in my email with in 48 hours, (which I had my own agent and her ext#). I had 3 papers to fill out and fax back to them. I did contact my 3 lenders they, knew exactly who PDL assistance was, and I contacted PDL assitance and gave them the numbers and information that the loan companies needed PDL to do. The first thing that PDL told me to do was to close my account and open a new one, but that took 5 minutes or so at my same credit union. I figure that I owned the loans around 1,300, and the fees every 2 weeks were hurting me and I had not even began to pay back the loan. PDL I will be paying 1,141 when its all over and done, so to me I am paying the loans back, and how the loan companies receive their money, I dont care as long as I stop getting calls, and have not just stop paying them at all.

what about the state of new mexico it says pdls are legal, if I wrote checks ahead of time, could they go after me for bouncing a check. i have to also be careful because i work for the government, what are the legal steps to go through? I can pay but it is causing me to neglect all my other obligations
