So, I sent Asset Acceptance a validation letter request. They sent me something back with the original creditor, my name, the last four of my SSN, the current balance, my last transaction date and the account number.

Oddly though, the account number does not match the account number that I had with the original creditor. This further perturbs me because they added interest to my debt for nearly 7 months before making me aware of such because they were sending letters to an address that I never resided at.

I'm not sure what to do with this information. Any advice?

Send a follow up DV and inform them that you have no record of ever having an account with that creditor or that account number. They all have their own internal account numbers, but they should reference the correct acct number with the OC. AACC is also notorious for changing account numbers in an attempt to re-age a debt on your reports.
