So far this was the nicest and most honest company I spoke with so far. The counselor told me to hold off on the service for a few months until I get my refinancing out of the way. They told me that their service would jeopardize my ability to qualify for a home refinance loan. They gave me a ton of information and I will certainly seek their services once I????????m ready. I felt very comfortable when speaking with this company.

I haven't heard of them, just be sure that they are licensed under the debt adjuster laws in your state.
Allegro Law
[color=Blue]I signed a contract with them and explained my situation but I changed my mind within 30 days of signing when I realized that they did hide information from me. I have been trying to get my money back for almost two months and they are just giving me the turn around. I would definitely not recommend this company.
Isela
We have no client with the name Isela. Also, the service agreement a client signs is fully disclosed. The service is explained completely and thoroughly to each client. We do not hide any information from clients. In addition, a recorded verification is done over the phone with each and every client going over the service in great detail prior to enrollment. If the above posting was written by a real client, call our office immediately to receive your refund... I doubt we will ever here from this person...
Go with a non profit that is USOBA certified
I suggest trying to work with a non-profit service. The fees will be alot less by far. These private companies are in it for the money and they charge up to 16% in fees. Non profit services don't charge a percentage. Instead all your money goes into your escrow account after yout second payment. I suggest checking out the BBB on them to see their rating...

Not to mention I was on hold for almost an hour to speak to someone about my account with allegro some one told me to hold on while they look up my account and all I could hear in the background was my customer service lady talking about colon cleansing or something rather. I wasn't sure what she was saying so I asked her what colon cleansing and she said that they do customer service for colon cleansing products and they can send me a free sample. I thought to my self that they are in the wrong business. I must be s fool to let these clowns settle my debts. Instead I shopped around and found some non-profit companies. The best one is CCI they have a clean record with the BBB they kinda recommend using them and that is very seldom unless you have high credentials. They are also on the board with the USOBA. I hope this helps everyone make the right choice. I had to learn the hard way because my first months payment was non refundable but it was worth cancelling because the fees each month with Allegro was up to 16 months and left nothing in my escrow account to settle with my creditors. All fees as oppossed to only paying 3 month in fees with CCI. I cancelled Allegro before my second payment was due and signed up with a non profit.
in litigation
I have been using Allegro Law for almost a year and they have collected quite a bit of money from me. I am now being sued by a collector and I am worried because I called Allegro Law and they say I don't have enough in Escro and then they sent me a legal disclaimer to sign plus a budget worksheet. I am really getting worried. Could someone advise me as I need to go to court next week.
allegro law
my husband and i decided on allegro to help with our debt. they have taken our money out of our checking for about a yr now and have not done a thing for us. we got sued and contacted allegro. they told us they were in litigation, trying to reduce the debt. they lied, did nothing!! my advise is handle the debt yourself. we are in the process of contacting the attorney general, but we found out they are already being investigated
Allegro Law
I used a credit counseling company years ago and they got my debt paid off in five years with lowered payments and lowered interest rates. With the economy in the gutter, I went back to my old company, but they'd been bought out and I didn't like their new rules. I was told about Allegro and I am very satisfied. Their contract is very honest and nothing is hidden. My credit companies accepted their proposals and I can look at my account on-line whenever I want. Their representatives are very helpful on the phone and are knowledgeable. They take one set fee a month from my payment to them and the rest of the money goes to my creditors - all of whom stopped calling once they accepted Allegro's contract on my behalf. I get mail updates and can see my balance going down every month on my creditor's statements.
I don't know why their debt settlement division is being investigated, but I have been very happy with their credit repayment plan.
There is no way I would allow a company take money from my account for a year without doing anything per our contract and not complain sooner. If I wasn't seeing my balances go down within a few months, I would be wondering what they were doing with my money and I would be canceling my contract and filing a BBB complaint.
We have to be proactive and check our credit card statemets each month to make sure our debt relief companies our taking our money and paying as per our contract with each company. Allegro is doing this for me. Sounds really fishy that the poster let Allegro take their money fro a year from their account and did nothing if they thought Allegro wasn't doing right by them.
I have no complaints about Allegro at all.
debt settlement
i do not care what company you go with, there is real risks involved in settlement program. the company and the law firms do not get you sued it has nothing to do with them. also the can not negotiate untill you have enough in the trust to do so. the lowest payment is not the best way. to be successful pay more monthly , as much as possible, cut all your luxury expenses cable cell phones w/ internet eating out etc. read your credit card statements in the fine print YOU HAVE A LEGAAL OBLIGATION TO PAY YOUR CREDITORS AND THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO SUE AND GARNISH
No response
I signed up with them, they withdrew 700 from my bank account, and now I cannot get anyone to return my calls. Am seeking attorney help to void the contract and disputing the charge with my bank.
Allegro Law
I have also been paying ALLEGRO LAW for about a year now, they have collected over $4000 from me. One of the creditor is suing me and states they never received a POA from Allegro Law. I have called in 3 times in the last year to inform them that the account was turned over to an attorney(they stated they updated my file)...and faxed the 3 letters to them I received from the attorney. That's 6 attempts! Allegro Law (this month) states that I never called in and they never got any faxes from me. You'd have to be dumb to believe that! Also, now that that creditor is removed from the program, which was about $15,000, they only lowered my amount owed to them to $500!!!!! They still want me to pay for the account that isn't even on there plus the fees to them! Also, have not negotiated with any of the other creditors either. This company basically takes your money every month and does nothing Needless to say, I am closing my account with Allegro Law and reporting them. ANYBODY THAT HAS ANY BAD ENCOUNTERS SIMILAR TO THIS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
ALLEGRO LAW
IT isn't fishy....they tell you it takes time to build money in your account for them to negotiate with the creditors...so you are waiting and trusting them....until you get sued from the creditor and remove the creditor from the program and they still want you to pay them for that creditor that they didn't help you with, is when you realize what they are doing....scamming you for your money...i'm glad they're being investigated. I will be moving forward with this also regarding my account.
Regarding Refund for Non Service
This is in response to one of the comments below, I did have an account and after doing thorough research decided to take care of the accounts on my own. I have asked that my money be refunded and was told that out of almost $2k i get back $93.00...? They can have the account set up fee of like $25 but the rest is mine and I would like it back.
Please respond to that and let me know the best way to contact you and discuss my money

Receivership
Hello all, Allegro Law LLC is now in receivership and
Attorney Nelms has been disbarred. Google it

Unfortunately if you are working with this company, here is the latest news on them.
State investigates debt payment company
PRATTVILLE -- The Alabama Securities Commission and the attorney general's office are investigating a debt payment company based in Prattville for alleged deceptive trade practices and operating without the proper license.
A civil complaint against Allegro Law LLC, Allegro Financial Services LLC and owner Keith Anderson Nelms was filed in Autauga County Circuit Court last week. Nelms is an attorney who has a law office in Prattville. He faces no criminal charges.
Circuit Judge Ben Fuller froze the as sets of the companies and Nelms' personal bank accounts last week, on the request of the state agencies.
Fuller heard more than five hours of testimony in a hearing Thursday afternoon and likely will decide today if all the assets will remain frozen.
The Securities Commission asserts that Nelms has to be licensed under that agency to handle debt payment activities in the state. Nelms' position is that the Alabama State Bar is the only agency that has the jurisdiction to license attorneys in the state, and the Securities Commission's license isn't necessary.
Nelms is dissolving Allegro Law LLC and attempting to form Allegro Financial LLC, another debt payment company, as its replacement, said his wife, Jennifer Jordan, who is also an attorney and is representing her husband in the matter.
"We applied for a license from the Securities Commission for Allegro Financial, but the process has been halted because of this complaint filed against us," she said. Nelms operated Allegro Law LLC out of his Cobbs Ford Road office in Prattville, the complaint states.
The Securities Commission and the attorney general's office say Allegro Law's clients include more than 15,000 people nationwide and "at least 175 Alabama citizens."
Nelms ran afoul of the Deceptive Trade Practices Act in dealing with his clients, the complaint alleges.
Customers of the business "do not understand how much they are charged in fees by Allegro and do not realize that no payments will be made to the creditors by Allegro until those fees are paid in full," the complaint reads. The complaint continues with "Allegro customers do not understand that they will pay a $25 non-legal set-up fee, a $59 monthly fee and a fee of 16 percent of their total debt enrolled in the program up front, before any payments are made to the creditors by Allegro Law."
According to Jordan, customers were informed of how the debt payment plan works through several sources, including phone calls, letters and a contract they are required to sign before entering the program.
Customers would pay Allegro Law a certain amount each month, and the company would negotiate with creditors on their debt. The money would go into an escrow account until enough funds were accumulated to pay the creditors.
"The attorney general's office is basically saying that Allegro Law isn't a viable business," Nelms said after the hearing. "We performed valuable services for our customers. Many of their accounts were settled for half to 30 percent of what their original debt load was. I say that's a very valuable service for our customers."
In a matter unrelated to the civil complaint, Nelms has agreed to a three-year suspension of his license to practice law in the wake of a complaint filed against him by Chase Financial in New York, based on the activities of Allegro Law. He entered the conditional guilty plea before the Alabama State Bar's disciplinary board June 29, records at the bar show. The board is responsible for regulating actions of attorneys licensed to practice in the state. The Alabama Supreme Court accepted the plea Thursday morning, court documents show.
The suspension goes into effect after the high court's acceptance of the plea, said Jeremy McIntire, assistant general counsel of the Alabama State Bar.
The plea states that Nelms represented himself as an attorney to customers in the debt payment business but is only licensed to practice law in the state of Alabama. The plea also states that Nelms took the 16 percent fee up front, before doing any work on behalf of his customers. Lawyers in Alabama can't accept fees unless they do something to earn them, McIntire said.
Nelms also owns two Steak-Out restaurant franchises in the tri-county area. He was an unsuccessful candidate for the District 7 Montgomery City Council seat in 2003.
The accounts for the restaurants and his law firm also have been frozen. Fuller said he wants to release those accounts as soon as possible, if it is proved that there is no co-mingling of money with the debt payment company accounts. Fuller appointed a receiver to handle the frozen accounts.
"The restaurants and law office have employees who rely on those businesses for a paycheck so they can pay their bills and feed their families," Fuller said at the end of the hearing Thursday. "My position is we need to get the auditing of those accounts completed as quickly as possible, so we can have an absolute minimum impact on the folks who rely on these businesses for their livelihood."
allegro law
i was a client also paid them $1500 up front then they wanted monthly payments to put in a escrow account.through all this time my accounts were building up on interest and they told me they could not do anything because there was not enough in my escrow account.i two was getting sued by a couple of my creditors.i would not do business with this fraud outfit.i would like my $1500 back!!
WAY TO EXPENSIVE!!!
I spent $300 just to enroll and then spend $59 a month for services i never used. the only thing that this company has done for me is lowered my interest rate on my credit cards, which comes to find out i could have done as well. The extra money i have been paying could of gone to the interest on my CC and i would of paid off a lot more by now. I was in a desperate state at the time i signed up and would of done any thing to feel better about getting stuff paid off. I enrolled and latter come to relize that is was a HUGE mistake and i have been wasting my money and in no better situation with my CC debt
Every single Allegro law client was well informed of the service
Every single Allegro law client was well informed of the services they were getting into. Remember recorded verification? Remember signing a FULLY DISCLOSED agreement? There services are no different than 98% of other debt settlement companies. In fact, Allegro law has less than .001% complaints. It???s the law of average, you will always have consumers that are far far beyond stupid??? most at which are found talking stupid no-nonsense on stupid forums like this one. Do yourself a favor sheep, live within your means and don???t get into credit card debt. THERE IS NO EASY WAY OUT!
won't answer phone at allegro
i signed with allegro back in oct. 08, they said they would start settleing debts, they have done one small one and now they won't answer there phones and the last time they did talk, their answer was they are not sure what they are going to do. now i don't know what to do, i am being served legal papers from the credit cards

if allegro law is in receivership and i have given them thousands of dollars. can i quit the program and get my money back so i can pay my credit card debt with that cash?
All debt settlement Companies
I have been in the collections business for 20 years and have worked for 3 of the largest credit card banks in the country. In that time I have seen many debt settlement companies come and go, because of suits like the one against Allegro Law now. Other names are Hess-Kennedy and Andrew Cappocia, among hundreds of other companies both good and bad. In one posting it said to handle it yourself. That is the best advice I can give, but if you don't think that you can, instead of a settlement company, that takes your money for 4 to 6 months before they evn think about paying your creditors, go to Consumer Credit Counseling Services or Money Management International. CCCS has been in business for 20+ years and actually helps your credit. They make monthly payments to your unsecured creditors over a 3-5 year plan to payoff the full balances. Most credit card companies will stop late and over limit fees and greatly reduce the interest (average is 5.9%) for as long as you are on the program. Since this is not a settlement, it improves your credit score and you have no tax liability. But, a CCCS or debt settlement, ONLY use one that is a non-profit company. You can verify if the companies are legitimate by contacting the USOBA (US Organizations for Bankruptcy Alternatives), a trade board for CCCS and debt settlement companies. One other suggestion, even if you have a company helping you with your debts, do not ignore the statements, calls and letters you get. If your creditors are calling, there is a problem with the program. After speaking to the creditor, call the agency you are working with to make sure any problems are corrected.
Biggest mistake many consumers make is to ignore their creditors. In most cases, if you are honest with them and have the desire to pay, arrangements can be made.
Hi Guest, If the Allegro situation is handled in a similar way
Hi Guest,
If the Allegro situation is handled in a similar way to how the receiver has been handling Hess Kennedy, you will not see a refund of money paid to Allegro for 12 months, possibly much longer. Your funds are locked up in the court sanctioned receiver process. This process is designed for an orderly wind down of Allegro affairs using a large group approach. It is not necessarily a process that is designed to most benefit the individual participant.
Mileage may vary
If you visit the Allegro receiver web site, you will see the que
If you visit the Allegro receiver web site, you will see the question for settlement clients: Why are you still taking money out of my account?
Answer: We are still going to try to settle.
Is this a good thing for you? You will have to determine that. My questions for you in helping you to use good judgement would be:
How long have you been in the Allegro Settlement program?
How much money have you currently paid into your set aside fund?
How many settlements have already been performed by Allegro, on your accounts?
If you are new to Allegro and only have say, 3-6 payments in, file your refund claim and bailout of the program. You may see a small portion of your funds returned to you anywhere from 12-24 months from now. Maybe never.
If you are into this thing for a good amount of time and have had settlments already done, which may have exhausted your available funds that were in escrow for settlement, it may also be a good idea to bail and put in a claim.
If you are someone who is situated like the gal on another website who posted she has fully funded her escrow with more than 16k and is awaiting settlements to have been performed since Jan. 09, you may have no other choice but to ride it out and see if the Allegro receiver has similar success that the receiver for Hess Kennedy had. The Hess Kennedy receiver has negotiated bulk deals with Chase, CapOne, and HSBC on behalf of HK victims.
Problem: While waiting for some, if any result on Allegro, your creditors have not forgotten they have not been paid. You are still exposed to all collection efforts, includiong the courts.
I have successfully worked Hess Kennedy files when it made sense to.
Ask lots of questions and get lots of answers.
If your mad at the situation, you should be. You got hosed. First by the sales guy/company that referred you to allegro (who by the way may have been paid as much as 60-70% of the fee you paid to Allegro) then by Allegro, and now by the receiver process instigated by the court when it shut Allegro down, resulting in your funds being frozen.
Also:
If you are an Allegro Debt Management Program client, that part of the program is still going. You may want to consider transferring to a different DMP provider. I would, if it were me.

I have been researching debt settlement companies, and I was thinking of working with Allegro. I was suspicious of them when I asked for their web address, and they told me the Allegro Law website doesn't mention their debt settlement plans because they don't want people calling them. I thought that was odd. Then I asked about their BBB rating Nd they said they have only had four complaints but they have all been resolved. Thanks to your comments here, I'm going to keep looking.
Avoid Credit Exchange and Allegro Law Firm!
I too signed a contract and cancelled within the alloted time, 30 days, and have been waiting for about eight months for them to send a check that I would have in two weeks. They're scam artists. I just contacted the FBI's white collar crimes unit to report them. And those people that are writing such nice things about the credit exchange/allegro law firm probably work for them! Want some of the names of the artists that I spoke to that I still have written down or on voice recordings? Hell, when they have the girl, and I do mean girl, asking the questions before you sign your money away listen at the end of her questiions and it sounds like your at a frat party. You'll hear a whole lot of hooting and hollering and applause. That's because they just put more money in their pockets. Thieves!

Allegro Law currently has approximately 15,000 clients. These 15,000 clients will have to fight for their share of funds seized by Alabama regulators as Allegro has been shut down due to violations of consumer protection law.
Allegro Law
I just happened to be searching online and ran across your question...Allegro is just like all the other blood suckers out there trying to take advantage of a bad situation. What they told me up front was good until about four months out, that's when all the additional fees started. I would not recommend this company. Try a NON-PROFIT organization if you are in debt, they are really looking out for your best interest.

Well, I feel now they are taking my money and doing nothing, for two years they are not doing what they are intend to do!! Now I realized i need to take action! Does any one now what a better company?
They do not answer calls after you become a client
I am a client and want to get a refund of my money because no payments have been made on my account at all. The Bill collectors still harass me - have no comments from Allegro Law. I have used the contact numbers to be put on hold by a recording forever I once held on for over an hour and a person answered to ask me who I was holding for then put me on hold again- I hung up. Or lately it just rings and rings. You don't know it is a scam because you call for some other consultation company that mysteriously recommends Allegro to all of the customers. They have been sued and that proves it is a scam.

It doesn't matter who the company is attorney based settlement companies WILL NOT represent you in court and trust me you will be sued. Deal with these creditors yourself and find a way to make a budget and stick to it. The creditors will work with you better than and settlement company. We lost more clients because they settled accounts for less than we could and yes we were attorney based. These companies are only after one thing your money and to see how far you will go before cancelling. Also these companies have a no refund policy so anything you put in towards their "fees" you will never get back. Good luck to you and I hope you take my advice it will save you court fees and time.
