I'm in serious debt with online loans and they are eating me alive. I'm thinking to sign up with pdlassistance.com to help me get this taken care of. Does anyone know if they are legit to work with or is there someone else I should be working with?

Hi Striphe,
PDL Assistance is legitimate company and there are people who have used them, you can type their name in the search and should be able to get some info. I do know that a lot of people on this website have worked through this themselves. I was going to use them myself, but I found out that after I paid the $200 fee and started making my monthly payments, the majority of the payments went towards their fee and they wouldn't start building up my account until the 5th month, so the pdl's wouldsn't start being paid off until the 6th through 8th month. It took a little work, but with the help of the people and information available here I was able to clear the pdl's within 2 months.

It helps if you tell us, the state you live in, who the pdl's are, if they are store front or internet, how much the loan was for and how much you have paid. Someone with a little more knowledge will be able to post your state laws and help you determine if the companies are legal or not. From there it is just a matter of time, patience and determination and you will be able to get rid of them...

Are these the original loan amounts or what you think you have left to pay? What was the amount of the original loan and how much have you paid in total (even if you have only paid the extension/refinance charges)?

In response to thlovely1-I actually have an appointment today to sign my papers to be signed up with PDL Assistance. I've started having second thoughts as well, did you just follow what their instructions were going to be? (Meaning freeze your account, open up a new one, etc)

I did and it actually didn't take as much work as I thought. It was well worth it and I actually saved money because I didn't have to pay someone to do it for me! If you need any help, there are lots of good people here to help you. Trust me, from personal experience, I could not have done it without them. The first one was the hardest for me because I didn't have the confidence but, after I got that first "paid in full" letter, I was determined that I was not going to be pushed around by these bullies any longer and that I was going to take matters into my own hands and it worked. I'm out of the PDL cycle!

Be careful with companies that say they will work with you re get rid of pdl debt.

MANY pdl's will NOT work with debt settlement companies, and are not obligated to.

I checked into this company as well and what struck me was the part that said something like " you put money into a savings account we set up and when enough is in there we will call them to negotiate".

To me, that makes little sense. I have to wait 5-6 months to get you to even talk to them?

Depending on the companies, your state, and what you've paid...you can get rid of the debt on your own without having to pay anyone else to help you do it.

In most states, internet payday lenders are operating illegally and have no legal right to collect if you don't pay. So, don't let them harass you.

I would NEVER advise using a debt settlement company to help you. They are typically only helping themselves.

Can anyone tell me how to get out of loan. Live in Alabama. My loan is $470. I have 2 other loans at $100 and $89 a month but they are not paydays. It is with Advance America storefront. Can I request that they work out payment plan that I can afford without having to reloan?

I had 6 payday loans. I signed up with PDL Assistance back in Sept 2008. I have paid off 3 of the payday loans on my own. I live in NY, my questions is should I stick with PDL assistance or do on my own. I have read the the interest rate these payday loan companies have charged is illegal in NY. Please advise. I still have Paycheck for $300.00, Quickest = $300.00 and My cash now for $750.00. My cash now sent me to collections and they called me at work 2 months ago and said i was going to be arrested.

Hi, I recently signed up with PDL Asst, but I am a little concerned and confused on the contract terms. I spoke with a rep before, but she was not knowledge of the information asked. She said it was only her third week at the company. I feel like I can dfo it on my own, I have submitted the revocation leters and some of the lenders have decided to settle with collections now. The process seemed so fast, if only I would have known sooner. Will PDL be able to refund me of the enrollment fee, if they have not provided any srevices yet?

I have 4 payday loans and I am currently a full-time student in college, so I need help with settling out of this trap. The PDL's and amounts are listed below:

PaydayOne 1000 (100 principal)
CashnetUsa 269 (45 fee)
Beacon 200 (89 fee)
Global Group 200 (60 fee)
Elastic 224 (31)

All are in Online PDL and I live in Louisiana

Thanks
