Does anyone has any experience negotiating with WaMu/Chase after Chase takeover? :(

I dealt with WAMU before the merge but have also dealt with chase. I will tell you that chase usually has inhouse collections. These people for the most part where easy to deal with but did not fool around. I was on the verge of having to go to court but I was able to work something out with them. They would have settled but I was unable to come up with the money. Now I am making monthly payments.

Good luck and let us know how things turn out.

They have told me over the phone a # they will settle for. I gave them my account info. I have till friday to put the money in my account. I will have to borrow the money from family. I am worried because they will not send the # in writing before they get payment. They did give me a confirmation #. Does this sound leggitt.

Guest,

Sorry I didn't respond earlier. I was long over due and told them I could give them 3k right now and they said no way. They called me about a month later and said 5k. I told them I will do it 3500. My goal was 4k. They said 4200 and I agreed. I wish I would have told them I would have done a little more and get them off my credit report but I was just excited to settle.

Guest,

Don't settle unless it is in writing. Tell them you want something in writing stating that this will be considered paid in full! You want something that is binding like a contract. Don't settle with just the phone call. Get confirmation through a letter. Don't send anything either. Because they can turn around on you and say we have no record of it. They are sneaky like that.
