What state do you live in? The debt has to be past the statute of limitations. You should send a debt validation request to them and have them prove that it is not past the SOL. Do not acknowledge that you will pay or even owe the amount or you can restart the SOL.

No, the SOL starts on the date of the last payment made or the first date of delinquency (When it became 30 days past due). For Texas it is 4 years I believe. The 7 years is how long they can report it on your credit report. I think she's trying to pull a fast one on you. If you make a payment to PRA, that would start the SOL all over again.

Well, I definitely won't be making a payment to them. Any ideas on wording for the validation letter? Also, I heard that there's a letter that I should send requesting that they only correspond with me via US mail.....should I only send that if they start calling me?
