we have an old debt with HSBC that i haven't been able to track down info on...first it was with penta group and today i got a reg. not certified letter from an Arthur b. adler saying they were doing collections for this. we do have an old HSBC so i don't think it's fake but the amount is off. i had intended to contact penta group and offer $1500, as the first time i talked with them on the phone they said they would take $3000 after saying debt was $6000 but told her i would need things in writing would not do anything over the phone...then got this letter...so do i send a DV letter? does that need to be typed or hand written? i know to send it CMRR. do i wait to make my offer? i can do $500 now and was going to space out the rest as i wait for some payments to come in? I don't want to blow this
