I received a summons from lawyers representing arrow financial services, LLC a few days ago and I have no idea how to properly respond to it.

The amount indicated on the summons is over 2.5 times what I actually owed the credit card company, not including the 6% per annum interest Arrow plans on charging.

I want to dispute this claim and settle for an amount I can afford. Obviously, I have no intention of paying more than I originally owed the credit card company, and I can't afford that. If possible, I'd like to settle for a smaller amount.

However, I can't figure out how to properly respond to the summons. The only information I can find makes it seem that I'd have to pay $250 to file an answer and even then, I don't know if I should be making an offer or just disputing their claims.

Help me please!

I don't know where you live but answering is free in my state. I simply scanned the questions on the computer and then answered that I could not confirm nor deny owing to lack of validation.

My case was ordered to mediation and I won because the plaintiff attorney had nothing
