So there was a "garishment" from my paycheck and it was Northway Finacial aka CTC. I emailed my payroll awhile ago saying that I revoked all volutary wage assignments but they still took it out. I called payroll and they still have the money because they really do not know what to do. Is there a legal website saying what makes a wage assignment legal and what makes it illegal? I refaxed the revocation letter wage assignment to CTC but my payroll said that they need something from them saying that I revoked it. What can I do to get my money back? The payroll guy said that they are not going to send the money anywhere until they figure out who it legally is.

Thanks, I emailed payroll with that also. I am thinking about email the AG and seeing what they say about it. It is just so fustrating at this moment. The money is still at the company but they just do not know what to do about it. They are treating it as a regular garnishment and not a wage assignment.

Why would any company treat it as a garnishment, without proof from the courts? It just doesn't make sense. I would think that it would have to come from "District court of.. whatever sate" to be an offical garnishment. Can you also Have your court send you a letter stating you have no garnshments issued? Would that help?

I would try both of them. I would start with the clerk of courts for your District. Wiscosnin also has an online Ccap search where you can see if you have any oustanding items with the court, state wide.

Ccap:

I'd also do one in MN just to cover my butt, i'd start with the clerk of courts for the district that you would live in. But Garinshments have to be entered (I think) with the state that you live in.
