I was hoping to get some guidance in breaking my four year cycle of payday loans. I’ve been looking around this forum for a few days and I have a grasp on what I need to do, but want to make sure I don’t leave anything out. Plus, I could use some advice if anyone has dealt with Chase Bank before.

First, I’m opening a new checking account with another bank and redirecting my payroll there. I then go into Chase to close my account. How do I approach the bank regarding blocking ACH transfers? I explain that I’ve been victim to predatory lenders which I’ve learned are illegal in NY? Do I have to know all the variant names that have appeared on my bank statements from the PDL’s transactions? Is there a way to discuss this with Chase’s ACH department directly?

Next, I fax and e-mail each PDL a letter. Can someone link me to the NYS laws? Will faxing and e-mailing be sufficient or do I need to send a registered letter as well? I don’t have addresses for a couple of them and a couple that I do, the only address I have is International. Can anyone provide me with missing addresses or fax/e-mail or correct my info if necessary for the companies I’ve listed below?

Currently have loans with the following internet based PDLs:

After contacting all PDLs, what’s my next step? To be honest, if these are truly illegal, I do not intend to honor the balance of these loans. Like I mentioned, this has been a horrible cycle of borrowing from one PDL to pay the other, just over and over again. In 2008 alone, I gave these companies collectively over $8,000 in finance and rollover fees… $8,000 in addition to the original loan amounts! I just can’t do this anymore. Half my net salary is going to pay these fees without ever touching the principal.

Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated!
