Hi michellestaton
Now that you have already placed the call, wait for the company to call you back. If they are contacting you for a past debt, they will get in touch with you. They also need to send you in writing about the details of the account. Check your credit report and see if this company is appearing on your file.

I just got off the phone with Mr Wisenberg, who yeterday was D A Waserstein with the Interstate Wire Compliance Bureau (see the multiple posts on this subject), His name changes, as do his threats, the lies told to me yesterday were rescinded today, when I had a co-worker conference into the call as a witness; His first statement to me was that he worked with the Federal Government, and that I was being charged with Federal Crimes, ranging from bank fraud to transferring funds across county line, the man was actually believable,( my wallet was stolen last summer, and I am still working out the fraudulent charges) and I was scared, but before doing a wire transfer I googled the company name. I did not pay him, and much to my suprise no one showed up at my job to arrest me, and the deal he offered me for only a short time yesterday was suprisingly re-offerd. Today with a witness listening in he retracted everything said yesterday, and tried to back-talk and badger me into a corner. I informed him that I do work for a state judiciary, and that I had also called the Attorney Generals office, he then preceded to call me names, and then screamed at my co-worker. He is not the only one though, his # shows as unlisted, but there was a foreign woman who called here this morning she would not tell me the name of her company, the area code was a 904, but she gave me the toll free # 866-225-4872, when you call this # and press 0 for the operator, if you do not get a busy signal, she says how may I direct your call, when you dial an extension, any extension (12 is what she said hers was) she answers the phone hello, much to my suprise she wanted the exact amount that D A what's his name wanted. I have read most of the posts on here regarding these companies, and almost everyone of them rings true, when I told the woman today that I would not answer or respond until she told me where she worked she told me to hold while she asked her supervisor (what?) she then came back on the line and told me she worked for Jacoby and Meyors,(I asked her to spell it)when she was giving me the information to do a wire transfer, she worked for Jacobi and Mayors...

If they are really the crooks from Ellis Crosby, then you should disregard them. Recently, they have been operating with the name Anthony Galloway and Associates.

Leah, Do not tense yourself with these scary collection trick
Leah,
Do not tense yourself with these scary collection tricks. Ask them to validate the debt first. Send your letter through certified mail with return receipt requested. You will be able to prove your side of the actions taken.
You won't lose you job and you can stop them by sending a cease and desist letter. Samples of this letter are available in this forum. Please draft it and send to their mailing address.

Do not get afraid of this call. Read this complete thread and know more about the unfair activities of Interstate wire compliance bureau. This company is using illegal methods to collect money from the people. Ask the company to validate the debt if this is a legitimate collection call. They won't be able to give you the requested details, so you might need to consult your attorney and stop them from calling you.
Also, you should file your complaints at the FTC, BBB as well as the state attorney general office.

i received another call at work today from these people a tara miller called and said that the company they represent is getting ready to file a complaint with state against me. When i asked her if she could tell me when this loan was deposited into my account she said she could not they only info she could give me was my e-mail address and the account number and bank name where the money had been deposited, this account had been closed 5 mo. ago. but she still could not tell when the money had been deposited. She also asked if i was on propation or had been in trouble before for writting bad checks. the company she is representing (Platinum b)wants this matter cleared before the end of the year and that i should get my lawyer involved (i don't have a lawyer in my backpacket by any means). i am not sure what i should do? should i return her call or what?

Michelle, what do you exactly mean by that? Have you paid in full? Who did you pay 5 months ago? Hope you have all the documents of your payments.
In that case, if they call again, ask for the supervisor over there and explain the matter.
Check with Platinum B for the status of your account. If you still have any unpaid balance, try to settle with them, because Interstate does not seem to be legitimate one.

Always keep the records of your correspondence and your payment safely, so that you can dispute their unfair demands in future.

I've been receiving calls from a company they call themselves Pre-litigation and last week when I spoke with them, they told me that I owed them $300 for some money wired to my bank acct. and now today the amount is $680. So I ask them which is it, $300 or $680 and you talk about rude, I told them that they talk so fast you can't get a word in edge wise. So I ask them to send me something in writing, well there response was I gave up my right. Oh by the way they tried to record me. Also this pre-litigation service is also located in Cheyenne, WY as well. I told them I think there a fraud and called them back at least ten times, yep they kept hanging up on me. Finally they said that it was okay that everything had been taken care of. What does that tell you!!!. Call them back and drive them crazy, they call you. Oh here's another number they use as well 866-201-4603 X205, her name is Diane Morris, sound familar. Let me know if you get one from these folks.

File your complaint with BBB, FTC and Attorney General. Have you contacted the original creditor to settle the account? Go through this forum and you will get lots of information on how to deal them.

I was contacted by these people a while ago with the same tactics. I already knew their trick because I had been scammed by Ellis Crosby already. I asked the "D.A." to give me his mailing address so I could dispute the debt. He refused. He was swearing at me and everything. I asked him who the original debt was owed to and he wouldn't tell me. I advised him that until he told me who the debt was for and sent me something in writing I would not be making any payments. I told him not to call me anymore. I hung up on him and he continued to call me right back several more times. I told him that I would be reporting him to the FTC and State Attorney General's office and that if he called me again, I would be tape recording my conversation with him for my lawsuit I would be filing. He never called back, no one ever arrested me and nothing happened. I have received probably 5-6 companies calling me saying the same thing and I tell each and every one of them that I know they are a scam because I fell for it once before, they are not to call me ever again, if they do call me back, I will be tape recording the call and will contact my lawyer immediately. They never call back and again, nothing happens. You just have to fight fire with fire. Know your rights and that the practices they are doing are against the law. Threaten a lawsuit and they will leave you alone.

I also received a call from this company, i pulled up this website while on the phone with this gentleman and confronted him and he could not provide me with any paper documentation showing anything about the debt or the validity of the agency. I contacted the wyoming attorney general at 307-777-7181 and i filed an online complaint with the federal trade commission at www.ftc.gov and i filed an online complaint with the mountain states better business bureau.
