After reading all these posts I feel better. Now I don't have to tell my husband about it and stress him out over a scam. Thank you.

I received a call today from Officer Calvin Anderson, thick arabic accent. His phone is 760-495-4921. stating that he will send officers to my job to arrest me if I don't pay $862.00 in one hour. First i hung up on him, then he continuosly called me back. I am actually shaking while I am typing this letter. i cannot afford to lose my job. I told him I didn't have all that money and that I only had $252.00 to pay. He said that would be fine and to pay it using western union by early tomorrow morning. How can i find out if this is true. i paid all of my payday loans off. Who can i call to find out if this is actually true. He said he was located in California.

I, too, started receiving calls from "HIBIB" and I, too, told them for every call they called me I would call them back 10-fold. I did. At one time the guy begged me not to call him again. Of course, that only stopped them for about 30-days and the calls start again. I think they pass the information around the countries, trying to see if they can get a bite. I like the number "4" thing. I'll try that next time.

Of course, I did go through the channels of reporting them. My daughter even called the CA law enforcement (because that's where one of the callers claimed he was calling from). They, of course, didn't have anyone there by that name........

the thing is in my experience, playing games with this particular scammer only made him call worse. the only thing that makes him stop is to hang on him, and not let him get a word in.
this is just my experience though.

Thank you so much. I was so scared. I already let made my employer aware and contacted the FBI. I filed an FTC complaint and will notify my local police department. I didn't know you couldn't be arrested. I am doing my homework on this type of stuff now so I am aware the next time it happens. Thanks again!!!!

I have a friend at work where they were calling her cell phone CONSTANTLY.... we played for awhile me pretending to be the FBI officer etc....they literally as soon as the phone would go to voice mail would try calling again and again it was like all they had was redial on her phone. My personal favorite of hers was when she answered while she was driving and BLASTED the car stereo and just held her phone there until they hung up. They apparently didn't like her music.

"officer calvin anderson", with the heavy arabic or india accent, is still calling the operator of my job. The receptionist has been transferring him to our safety guy and apparently he left a threatening voicemail stating to physical harm to me if I don't pay this money I supposedly owe. Who the hell are these people? How dare them put people through this crap!!!! i am getting very angry at this point.

I have received some of the same calls. The one I received yesterday was from a guy that called himself Richard Williams and he was with the United States Legal Investigation Departement. He told me that I was being sued and that the men from the courthouse were coming to get me. He knew my address and my ss number. He also knew the names of some of my friends. They have even called my place of employment and asked to speak to me. Just yesterday they called it and our secretary told them that she was sorry but I had died. Maybe they will stop called my work but it did not stop them from calling my cell phone. I've started telling them they have the wrong number when they ask for me. I turned them in once and the calls stopped for a while but they have started back. I guess I'll have to report them again. I have been getting these calls since July. It's scary because they have my personal information. My callers also have a deep foreign accent. At times I can barely understand what they are saying. When I looked up the number thy left it was a New York number. I'm tired of the calls and I am sorry to hear that others are getting them.

SAME CRAP. "Jason Anderson" (do you think he was from the Matrix?) called looking for a friend of mine and ask that I get a message to her....she was in some sort of trouble for fraudulently doing some biz on the internet, well that is BS. When I called back and told them they had made the mistake by calling me and portraying himself as a legal investigator, they did not know they had reached a real legal professional. I promptly told him I was in the process of reporting him and his agency, as well to never call my number again! Jerks, then got cocky and told me to go ahead... Problem is with this type of scam, the road to prosecution is long and lengthy, if it can happen at all.

She was told that she could give them her SSN, account number, and make a payment by phone to clear everything up. When my sister asked that she receive a written statement of the alleged charges the man said, "If I mail anything out to you I will have to turn the information into all of the police departments. If that happens then you will be sitting behind bars until you make the payment." When my sister (obviously knowing this was a scam) said that she was ok with that he hung up on her.

Well I thought I was done with these losers but apparently not because they called me again at work today, threatening all types of "freezing social security" and "being held at the county courthouse for 21 days and see yourself behind the bars" and all kinds of ridiculous threats, once my "case file is downloaded" because the Attorney General of my state was listening to the phone call. LOL.

I just listened to their spiel, told them to go ahead and put me "behind the bars" and hung up.

Well, they called my office right back, telling the receptionist they were the "Police Department" looking for me! When I picked up the guy claimed to be the "chief investigator" and said he needed my "final answer." I started laughing and told him I'd already given it. He got all "Um... okay...." confused and hung up.

Just waiting on them to call again.

i know it's crazy. my boss took it super-serious, too. she did not believe it was a scam! she even called the courts in NY to prove i do not have a case and made me make documentations to give to the head supervisor. it was crazy. i filed a police report and gave a copy of my employer, which seemed to help. some people hear these threats and believe them, i never did but it does scare some people. i have found that the calls do stop for awhile but end up starting right back up again.

I received a voice mail on 1/25/2010 from an "Aaron Carter" advising legal action was to begin against me and referenced my SS#, bank account # (last 4 digits), pretty much most of my personal/work information. When I called 430-342-0261 back and asked for "Aaron Carter", the man answering (with really broken english, Pakistani/India accent AND same voice that left message on VM), he stated this is "Mr Johnson"...again, I asked for Aaron Carter, again he stated this is Mr Johnson. I advised I was calling back from message left and what the call was in regards to? He stated, legal case to be opened against me and he will explain and for me NOT TO INTERRUPT and/or ask questions UNTILL HE WAS FINISHED. He stated it was in regards to a direct deposit payday loan of $250 that I did not pay back from June, 2009... I stated I never received any direct deposit for any PDL and who did I supposedly get this PDL from? He would not provide name of company, stated he was working on their behalf to collect debt and asked if I wanted to resolve or dispute? I stated dispute. Then he asked for lawyer name & phone. I asked again, who is stating they deposited money into my account, that I want to contact them directly? He stated, they didn't want anything to do with me and referred it to them to collect debt. Did I want to resolve or dispuite? Again, I stated dispute. He asked again for lawyer info. He stated that I could simply resolve today by paying $400. I stated I am disputing this and to give me name so I can pass along to my lawyer. He stated, they would mail out all info and when taken to court, I will end up owing $8000+ and he hung up.
Today, 2/12/2010, I get another message from "Officer Michael Brown" (broken pakistani/india accent), #817-717-7310 stating he was from United States Legal Investigation Dept and basically left same message as one received in January. This time though, he called family members and friends using the name, "David Cook" and tried to scare the shit out of them stating they could go to jail for associating with me and not providing their company with pertinant info on my where abouts. My questions is how the fu*# did they get all this info, especially family & friends. I'm VERY cautious with NOT putting ANY personal information out there, yet they still got it some how...

I think they get all the info from websites like peopleFind.com
I don't know how they pick their victems.I think they may have chosen me for a recent workers comp setelment I won.It is public record for anyone & gives my name & address.With that they can (& did) get my phone #.
They got a list of my neighbors & relatives with phone numbers.They called them with this BS

My Indian/Bangladesh guy was named "Jack Cooper"....
Told me to come to California with $10K to settle a $300 judgement against me from some place I've never heard of.....
Needless to say the conversation ended with him using a lot of choice curse words...

And those were the only words from him that I could understand....

I see that its been awhile since anything has been postedhere but i have found this blog and JUST got these calls also... OFFICER JOHN SMITH FROM united legal investigation department of new york and a lawsuit is being filed against my social security number.. not to mention it sounds like a skype phone cutting in and out... and speaks little english...

???? says if i dont have a credit card or debit card to make instant payment then i can call him froma western union plance and he will tell me what to do from there...

was supposed to do that today... NOW he says in his voicemails he keeps leaving me since i wont answer... " you were supposed to be making payment today and if u do not make payment today then I will send this case to your county of columbus ohio... funny how thats a city though ... but ya... im so sick of it.. he calls ALL THE TIME

The investigation unit united states legal and law investigation department is a complete fraud. They claim they are representing fast cash in which I never took a loan from. They were threatning and very abusive. I turned the tables and called them back after my initial conversation atleast 20 times and informed them that I have there location and reported them. Now they wont answer my calls. This number is from California (218) 814-0215. Beware and they get very threatning also but dont take their abuse... Give it back to them. I now have tons of people constantly calling them blocking their incoming lines and when they do answer they hang up after about 10 seconds. Just keep calling them and report them to the fraud hot line.

If you receive a call from this company, the are phony. I filed a complaint with the FTC (877) 382-4357 eight seven seven - three eight two-four three five seven. File a complaint with them. They need a few compaints to open an investigation. Please do this.

I have been receiving calls for sometime now on my work line. It is a male with thick foreign accent claiming to be from some legal investigation department. I have not answered but he keeps leaving messages saying i need to call back immediately or serious legal action will be taken against me. Says his name is Jason. # is (727) 242-5421. Yesterday i had 22 missed calls. I think that qualifies as harassment.

kevin said that my name and social security number will have legal action taken against it. Kevin didn't leave a call back number because my machine cut him off.

Thank god I found this and other sites about these creeps. I have been getting these phone call to, leaving me messages about being taken to court. I had my suppisions that this was not kosher, too much back ground noise, my number kept coming up as an 05 number, when I checked with AT&T they said it must be out of country, todays number was 718-873-9770 the guy has a thick indian sounding accent. I did get mad today called the guy and told him I know who they are and they will be reported to the poice and FBI, he statred shouting at me saying yeh go to the F-B-I. I then hung up. I am also having my number changed to an unlisted one. It worries me about them having social security number and bank infomation. What can I do about mu SS #?
